New Dana White interview: Shogun to debut at UFC 76; moving closer to deal with Fedor

The Oregonian has a new interview with UFC president with Dana White available. The article goes on to quote White as saying that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will debut at UFC 76 on September 22 and that contract talks with Fedor Emelianenko are progressing.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

White recently signed Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who current UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson called the best fighter he’d ever faced. Rua (16-2) will make his UFC debut Sept. 22.

“He’s signed and ready to roll,” White said. “You couldn’t meet a classier guy in your whole life. He will be so marketable.”

White also said he is moving close to signing a contract that would bring Pride heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko (26-1), widely considered the best fighter in the world, to the UFC.

Finally! Glad to see we have a date(hopefully) of when Shogun will fight. Can’t wait for it, these UFC cards from 73 on are really turning out to be very good on paper right now.
