IFL announces rosters and matchups for semifinals
The IFL has officially announced rosters and subsequent matchups for their team semifinals on August 2 in East Rutherford, NJ.
They are as follows:
Tokyo Sabers (3-0 team, 9-6 indiv.) vs. New York Pitbulls (3-0, 10-5)
155 lbs: Savant Young vs. Erik Owings
170 lbs: Antonio McKee vs. Delson Heleno
185 lbs.: *David Phillips vs. **Dan Miller
205 lbs.: Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Jamal Patterson
265 lbs.: Wayne Cole vs. Bryan Vetell
The Iowa Silverbacks (2-1, 9-6) vs. Los Angeles Anacondas (3-0, 11-4)
155 lbs.: Bart Palaszewski vs. ***Adam Disabato
170 lbs.: Rory Markham vs. ****Chris Clements
185 lbs.: *****Gerald Harris vs. Benji Radach
205 lbs.: Mike Ciesnolevicz vs. Alex Schoenauer
265 lbs.: Ben Rothwell vs. Krzysztof Soszynski

that sucks. the last four are pretty much why i’ve watched that league. McKee v. Heleno should be interesting, Matsyuchenko v. patterson…. I don’t know much about the other dudes. Sam, will you be doing a rundown on the show beforehand to give us some introductions to these guys?

Yes, my plan is to do previews on Sportsline.
But apparently both Clement and DiSabato are strong replacements. Both train with Shawn Tompkins on a regular basis and have amateur wrestling backgrounds. DiSabato not only apparently was a big-time wrestler, but also is an amateur boxer.

well, hopefully they’ll do well…it’s always hard to replace a “name” though, something IFL is desperate for. Horodecki and Hieron were two of the only guys outside rothwell that my casual (well, more casual than me) MMA fan friends even had on their radar. some remember matsychenko.

Chris Clements had been rumoured to be on The Ultimate Fighter 6, but there were conflicting reports. Does this suggest that he was not on the show?

I haven’t heard any rumors about TUF 6 and Clements. However, if they’re out there and if there’s any truth to them, Clements now has no shot at the UFC. Going with the IFL is suicide for a young fighter’s chances in the UFC.
