Sievert: Curran could be in line for title shot

August 10, 2007 by Sam Caplan

Steve Sievert is reporting on his Brawl Sports blog on the Houston Chronicle’s web site that Jeff Curran’s win over Stephen Ledbetter last Sunday night might have earned him a shot at Urijah Faber and the WEC featherweight title:

A source told the Chronicle’s Brawl Sports Sunday at WEC 29 in Vegas that if Curran beat Stephen Ledbetter (which he did) than Curran would be next for Faber. Nothing has been officially confirmed by WEC, but if the fight is made, it’s a worthwhile matchup.

Nice. He is the only logical opponent the WEC has at this time.

“…Stephen Ledbetter (lost decision to Jeff Curran): must have neurosurgical consult on congenital defect on first cervical vertebrae and must have nasal fracture examined by ears-nose-throat (ENT) doctor…”

    Curran is ready for Faber.

Curran is nice fighter, but not in Faber leagues. The winner of Jens and Cub has a better shot at Faber than Curran

    Curran will tap Faber.
