I was kind of bummed that Showtime didn’t have any replays of ShoXC on last night but from what I understand, there will be another showing tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Showtime Extreme (EliteXC.com makes no mention of the replay… the time should be plastered all over the site). I’m looking forward to checking out the show and will have thoughts on it tomorrow. From what I understand, it was another solid showing of the ShoXC brand.
Here are the results:
Victor “Joe Boxer” Valenzuela defeated Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett via submission due to strikes at 3:23 of round one. Bennett apparently knocked down Valenzuela early and he recovered. Congrats to Valenzuela because I know this is a win he wanted badly.
Seth Kleinbeck used a left-right combination to knock Jaime Jara out at 4:59 of round two. I really want to see this fight because both Kleinbeck and Jara have interesting back stories and are tough. Kleinbeck is a much better fit at 185 lbs. than he is at 205 lbs. This dude is not only a practicing physician but has a wife and two kids and trains an hour away from his house. He’s fighting because he wants to, not because he needs to.
Jon Murphy earned “EliteXC Fighter of the Night” honors by knocking out late-replacement Dave Huckaba with a second round knockout. I’ve heard that it was a big-time knockout and Murphy showed great power. If you recall, we profiled Murphy last week with our new “Bring the Pain” series that will highlight rising stars in MMA. Congrats to Murphy, who you’ll be hearing a lot more from.
Hector Urbina, who is only 19, recorded a unanimous decision over Ray Lizama.
Umar Love recorded a submission win via choke over Brendan Tierney at 4:08 of round one. Tierney is a part-time male model who comes from Arizona Combat Sports and Team MTX, one of the fastest rising camps in MMA. He had a perfect record going into the bout.
