Strikeforce announces first match for Playboy show

San Jose-based fight promotion Strikeforce has announced the first official match for its upcoming show on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Josh “The Punk” Thomson (34-2) will square off against former IFL fighter Adam Lynn (11-7) in a clash of 155 lbs. fighters.

No other matches have officially been announced although Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez, Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth, and Daniel Puder are still being advertised for the card.

    For some reason even the thought of this event just annoys the piss out of me. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

    Huh? I thought Melendez and Thomson were fighting for the title? And I thought Southworth and Puder were fighting one another as well. How is there only one official fight when this thing is just weeks away? Wasn’t think initially announced as El Nine and The Punk agianst one another?

    Strikeforce never announced those matchups. Only that the four guys will be appearing on the card.

    Thanks Sam. Guess that’s how it came off when I first heard, but I could have sworn that’s what they originally said. So how the heck is Melendez going to fight then? At least the Thomson fight would have been pretty decent, but who else is there now? Not impressed.
