Strikeforce has announced that Joe “Diesel” Riggs will be fighting Eugene “The Wolf” Jackson during the promotion’s Sept. 29 show at the Playboy Mansion.
While no official announcement has been made by Zuffa, it’s very likely that Riggs has been released from his WEC contract. While Zuffa will occasionally allow fighters to take a leave and fight outside their existing contract, it’s unlikely they’d make an exception for a promotion such as Strikeforce.
Last week the promotion announced that Josh Thomson will be facing former IFL fighter Adam Lynn. Gilbert Melendez, Bobby Southworth, and Daniel Puder are all on the card as well but opponents for each fighter have yet to be named.
