Houston's ground game is non-existent. Watch the Eric Schafer Fight. Schafer passes Houston's guard without resistance and is able to have his way with Houston the entire time. I know you may argue that Schafer has excellent BJJ, but this was not a case of excellent BJJ it was the fact that Houston was completely out of his element on the ground. Amatuer grapplers could beat Houston on the ground. He's an exciting fighter don't get me wrong. Much like Chuck Liddell in the fact that you know what you are going to get when you see Houston step into the ring, however as we have seen with both fighters, they can be a huge dissapointment if their game plan doesn't work and it's happening more and more as this game continues to evolve and produce true well-rounded fighters.

All I gotta say is you gotta respect a man taking care of 6 kids, constantly on the grind, and still knocking opponents out. The man still doing everything he wants to do and has an impressive record. Who needs to be concerned about his cardio if he still knows how to win. Maybe someone can wear him out, but I guess we'll see once someone gets past his first line of defense. "Keep All Society Hip-Hop_ DKA$H"

A/H is doing a great job. I would like to see him go a few rounds with a ground tech. But Sakara just got ran through. The funny thing is JJ dont work when your getting punched in the faced and knocked out. He has a great first line...just like he said. And seeing him man handle K/J . . . . crazy. Rashad Evans is afraid of his own team mate.

Houston Alexander is for suck.

Rashad is the best LHW in the business and he would destroy Houston. Rashad is big and strong and handsome and undefeated. One day after retiring from the UFC, I believe Rashad will be our president.

Yeah Rashad! Go Rashad!

Hey Fred....You are an idiot. Last time i checked Jardine beat Lidell. Plus how can you write about what you haven't seen. I hope Houston continues to win but just like you i have no idea weather he can do anything other than knock guys out until someone gets him on the ground. As far as i am concerned this man has earned my respect, he seems to be genuine classy and can kick ass what more can you ask for???

His background is in wrestling, that's what he's always done. Didn't you read the comment about him slamming the guy and breaking the boards in the ring, I saw it. He wrestled in high school so that's not a problem. As far as jiu-jitsu he's training in that area right now, but just because he knocks guys out super fast doesn't mean he can't wrestle.

By the way I don't think anyone's stronger than him in the 205 lb class.

Houston is one of the best newcomers in the UFC lightweight division. The question still remains: Can he really go three or even five rounds? He claims his ground game is just as good as his striking, but till he proves that in the cage, I guess I won't put him in the top ten in LHW ... yet.

hes a guy with raw talent, and thats rare. once he gets better trainers and sparring partners he should go all the way. yes once he fights an A level opponent, he might get his wakeup call, but thats when changing your training camp makes all the difference. seems like a good representitive for the sport, as i cant stand arrogant fighters no matter how good they are

I respect Houston a lot, but you have to laugh at that "first line of defense" crap. This guy brawls and does submission wrestling. He seems to have no formal JJ (or even wrestling) training whatsoever. His answers to the jiu-jitsu questions show his lack of formal training.

It's a guarantee that Houston is going to run into opponents who crack his "first line of defense". They are going to take him to the ground and completely destroy this guy. He's 35 years old, training with guys who aren't the elite trainers in the sport. The combined records of his opponents (except Jardine and Sakara) are among the worst in the sport.

Houston will get killed when he fights any A-level guy who can get past the initial 2-minute barrage. He's not going to last.
