Din Thomas arrested for allegedly running illegal cage fights
UFC lightweight, Din “Diniero” Thomas, was arrested today for running illegal cage fights in his Florida training center:
PORT ST. LUCIE — Din Thomas, almost a legend in the ultimate fighting world, was arrested Tuesday after police say he ran “illegal cage fighting” matches at a local training studio that he runs, a police spokesman said.
Thomas, 31, faces a felony prohibited competitions charge after police got a tip Oct. 19 about the matches at a facility he uses in St. Lucie West.
Inside, they observed two men fighting in an octagon-shaped ring surrounded by about 150 spectators. The fights reportedly weren’t sanctioned.
Wow. I’m sure these kinds of bouts happen all over the country, but how in the hell do you get caught?

maybe it wasn’t illegal cage fighting…maybe they were just demostrating moves in a play like fashion. Maybe it’s all staged like WWF or something.
either way it’s not a big deal to an MMA fan like myself.

I don’t know what the laws are, but how is that different from a Muay Thai school having a interschool match in a ring?
I am thinking this is just someones knee-jerk reaction to something that they know nothing about. Hopefully he gets cleared or the law is outlined a little more clearly.

I know Din Thomas from his Orlando Training days when he was working with 11 time world champion Mike Bell. He and another fighter where actully at my house for a barbeque before Din went to Top team in lauderdale. He is a stand up guy with manners and a christian guy. There is someone out for something here, I do not believe his career is over, and thanks to everyone for frying him before all of the facts are out.

completely off the subject , any of you guys know if there is a cage fighting club or something of the sort in Western Australia ? i am keen on joining if there is ! Did it in South Africa before moving over to Australia ! some info would be verymuch appreciated – thanx – Marc (Venomous Viper Smith) !
