Octagon book will cost you a pretty penny

When this book was originally announced, Fightlinker commented about how the price must be some kind of mistake. At that time it was listed on Amazon.com as being roughly $1,200 bones.
Even that was off the mark. This book, Octagon by Kevin Lynch, will cost you $2,500 if you want the Collector’s Edition and $3,500 if you want the Deluxe Collector’s Edition.
Obviously UFC fans are not the intended market for this book, but damn, I would love to have one. Even if it was a knock-off and not as high quality, it would be a nice book to have. But for $2,500? You must be outta your mind.

Er, I think it’s by Kevin Lynch, not David… What is the deal with the price, anyway? Is it due to the licensing fees for all the photography?

Kevin Lynch.
I used to work at a book store and I have seen high dollar books like this before. There is a Manchester United book for about $6000 out there.
Their high quality binding, incredible quality printing on pictures. Absolutely amazing to look at but only worth it to those who can pay for such things. Its just something to brag you have.

what a waste
items like this are an insult to the free enterprise system, and the citizens that they “think” will purchase it.
I believe the large majority of the people who “purchase” this book, will be only for promotional purposes of the book itself, to draw in “Real” buyers.
Surely it won’t work, however the US and the rest of the world is filled with rich, stupid, ignorant fools.

I agree with yep, this book is merely a publicity stunt to keep people talking about UFC, mma, whatever….stupidity

This is not a publicity stunt…I think you guys are missing the point.
Its a premium collection showing a guys work. High value books like this come out all the time and they are almost always “art” books. Like this one.
They are simply not sold at volume and are they are for collectors.

$2500 dollars….who do they think they are selling these books to?
It had better be all of the fighters fights included on DVD for that price.

Its simply a premium item for collectors.
I’m telling ya…you go to any art museum or photography gallery and these type of books are common. They are “works of art” They aren’t made for the masses.

I just wish they would have made a version of the book for the fans who made UFC before all the hollywood types with the dough became superfans. We were watching Tank abbot and shamrock while all the ritzy wannabees were ringside at Holyfield/Tyson. I spent a long time searching for the Lynch before and after fight photos and was so excited to hear a book was being made, but uterly disapointed to find out that I will never be able to hold that book in my hands. Come on guys!! Remember the people who save all month to be able to buy the PPV, Give us a better price, u will still make the same amount of money because of more product sold. COME ON!!!!
