Report: Diaz to fight Robinson at UFN 12

November 24, 2007 by Sam Caplan

MMAmania.com is reporting that Nate Diaz will return to the octagon on January 23 at UFC Fight Night 12 against Alvin Robinson.

Diaz last competed at UFC Fight Night 11 and defeated Junior Assuncao via a guillotine choke.

As for Robinson, he was a part of the undercard of UFC 77 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was able to record his first UFC victory by earning a unanimous decision win over Jorge Gurgel.

Diaz vs. Robinson has the potential to be a great fighter. Diaz will likely go into the contest as the favorite since he has more name recognition but the potential for upset is strong. It’s hard for anyone to make the case that the UFC is protecting Diaz, the winner from the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter, with this matchup.

This is turning out to be a potentially very entertaining card. MMAWeekly is also reporting in their rumor section that Matt Wiman will fight Justin Bucholz now as well.

This fight will prolly depend on which Alvin Robinson shows up: The one who tapped out to strikes(a HUGE no-no is MMA) or the one that came out of no where in the second round and battered Gurgel? Remember, Nate ain’t no bitch and I can’t imagine him ever losing to one.
