Rio Heroes to broadcast Rio Heroes 12 via free webcast
Rio Heroes is planning on providing a free webcast of their Rio Heroes 12 tournament on Tuesday, November 27th at 7:00 PM EST. it will feature the Rio Heroes Middleweight Championship live from Brazil.
Rio Heroes had a wealth of issues with their broadcast last time, so let’s hope that they fix some things for this broadcast. Some things I’d like to see are more than one camera, instant replay, and a better quality stream.
I know I have bashed the hell out of Rio Heroes and I said there would not be a second time for me. However, I am going to give them a second chance this time around, hoping they will be able to handle the amount of visitors that come to their site. Either way, if you don’t have anything to do on a Tuesday night, it may be entertainment one way or another.
If you’re planning on watching, you’ll need to register for a username and password before the event. Click HERE if you’d like to sign up to watch the stream.

While I do appreciate you guys trying to cover everything going on out there, I don’t think there’s room for this kind of sidseshow promotion anymore…I personally think there are plenty of other, LEGIT groups that adhere to the unfied rules (or ANY rules, for that matter) & could use the publicity. In my humble opinion Rio Hereos is basicaly Bumfights in Portuguese.

Hieronymous, I would appreciate it if you had the faintest idea of what you were talking about before you waste your time typing. The fighters are Great! It is the production that needs work. I would rather watch awesome fights a with not-so-great production then shitty fights with the best production ever (HDnet Fights) any day. But you obviously have not seen any of the fights so I recommend you check them out and then re-post.

I couldn’t agree more. The less publicity this group gets, the better. Garbage like this organization will go a long way to degrading the sport we love. Bumfights is a good description of this garbage.

Speaking of knowing what your talking about…you do realize HDNet has only put on one show right? And as Cuban clearly stated it’s first fight was simply a a Beta test to just make sure they had the right people and equipment to put on real shows.

Sryoung is most likely referring to Friday Night Fights which HDNets broadcasts, not surprisingly, on Friday nights. Many of these are broadcasts of regional MMA promotions (Art of War, Steele Cage, etc..) that feature up-and-coming fighters, some with minimal experience. Most of the fights are so-so but once in a while you will catch a really entertaining fight. You see, I am a cheap bastard and love the free MMA in whatever form I can find it. Strikeforce shows being streamed over the internet, tape-delayed IFL programs, live WEC and UFN shows — whatever I can find I will try to tape and enjoy at my leisure. I am not above hunting fights down on the internet. Even been known to buy a UFC pay-per-view event if the card is compelling enough.
That being said, I may just have to check out this Rio Heroes webcast. In my experience webcasts are hit-or-miss, depending on when you try to log on. I am not a techie but I figure bandwidth plays a big role in whether or not you can connect. Give it a shot…you can’t lose what you never had.
Thanks for the heads up, Adam. If I am able to connect, I’ll let you know what I think of the action. Caio!

Am I crazy or is this the same group that has bare-knuckle matches with no tapouts & the same rules as the first UFC, & who’s fighters are admittedly just trying to scrape up some quick money to pay rent? When one of them gets brain-damaged live on webcast, it’ll be a bad scene for those of us who watch safe & legal mma. I’d rather pay to watch the dark fights on HDNet than watch two Rio thugs kill each other for free.
In fact, it wasn’t long ago that this same site was having trouble deciding if Rio Heroes could be considered a legit promotion…

Ok, I went on YouTube & watched a match. Two amateurs duking it out in a poorly-build cage in some dude’s cramped studio. If I wanted to see that I would go to Florida & visit Din Thomas.
Hiyoooo!

This promotion is garbage. The less said about it, the better. I hope I never see coverage about this promotion on this site again.

Adam,
I visited their website, watched some of the footage from previous “events” and Eric above is dead-on. This promotion is garbage. It holds no interest for me.
