An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that's especially true in contract negotiations. I was left with the impression that he's obligated to a certain number of fights, at least according to White/UFC. If there is such a dispute, Couture's statements are clever strategy. He reaffirms his desire to fight Fedor, which the entire MMA universe wants to see, and extends an olive branch to UFC by offering a joint promotion. How does White/UFC respond without looking bad? On the other hand, is it possible that Couture and the UFC are more simpatico than we've been led to believe and this is their way of pressuring M-1?
