So Cuban has an MMA league? That's like saying my uncle Joe has an MMA league. If Mayweather fights in one of these "lesser" leagues he should do relatively ok. It's like Kimbo Slice kicking butt on Showtime's League...can't remember the name of it. Anyway, it would be a good way to get Mayweather's feet wet and build up a showdown with a UFC fighter. I can see Mayweather training, learning to defend the takedown and beating a few of these MMA guys in Cuban's league. In lesser leagues the one dimensional guy can do well. Mayweather would be the best striker, in his weight class, to ever step into an MMA ring. In these lesser leagues he could catch these guys before they were able to take him down.

In the UFC, where the big dogs roam, he....would....get....killed. So would Kimbo Slice. But, can you imagine the money made after a few fights that generate huge hype? Mayweather knocks out a few lesser fighters then comes over to fight a UFC guy. That would likely be the highest selling PPV ever. If I were Dana I'd be chatting it up with Mark Cuban right now.

i think he would be fine unless he rushed into fighting mma.all he needs is some kickboxing classes and some jui jitsu.hes only 30 so hes got alot of time to learn.i think he would be fine, unless he fights a bjj blackbelt but he would be smart enough to not to take it to the ground or visa versa.

I'd pay money to watch him fight a quality opponent. How cool would it be to watch him deal with a Muy Thai clinch and knees or some ground and pound elbowing? Or a heel hook or guillotine choke? Pretty damn amusing.

i'm betting the PPV buyrate would be pretty huge, and mayweather wouldn't be involved unless he got a big chunk of that. I'd imagine it would be something where cuban would say "you get this percentage, go out and get people interested".
The problem, of course, is that inexperienced mma can be pretty hit or miss. imagine if he gets layed-n-prayed like heath herring did by o'brien...ugh

Did he change his mind? Uhhh, that's usually what a retraction means. He ripped into MMA before his fight with the Golden Boy and said afterwards that it was meant to hype his fight. He respects MMA enough not to have stepped into the ring with Sherk knowing he'd get taken down, his arm broke, boxing career over. He didn't even acknowledge Dana Whites invitation(very smart idea), otherwise he might've had to back up his comments.
I also think it's possible that Mayweather could see a payday of 30 million for making the crossover. Think about it. Anybody who would have ordered his boxing, will order his MMA, plus the regular MMA PPV viewers. That's like a record breaking TV event right there that would leave second place in the dust.
Taking into account, Mayweather could make 30 million for the fight while his opponent would barely make 30 thousand(no matter who it is).
If Mayweather wins, awesome for boxing. If MMA wins ... hmmm?

Mayweather doesn't have the time spent into training MMA.

I can't see him being a MMA champion with only have boxing under his belt.

Those 16 ounce gloves allow you to block alot of shots that you cannot get away with in MMA. This type of fighting would be a hard habit to break considering he's been boxing almost his whole life.

It would be a hard transition to be a champion in MMA.

That would be awfully hypocritical of Mayweather since he repeatedly ripped on MMA in the past.
