but I 100% agree with #9.

In response to Ranger Up–are you proud of how the 13 year old Afghan or Iraqi boy feels when he sees someone rocking one of these shirts? I’m all about senseless humor, just like the next dude, but this isn’t doing anything positive for “our troops” or our “patriotic Americans” besides propelling further the reasons why the rest of the world think we’re bags of douche(s).

We are not racists (if you really wanted to stretch it, you might be able to argue jingoism, but that would also be patently false). Several guys that are part of RU have fought alongside Afghans and Iraqis. One guy in particular was a Special Forces Team Leader who had the closest of relationships with the Afghan unit he commanded. When he lost one of his Afghan brothers in combat it was no different to him than losing one of his American soldiers and he grieved and wept for the loss, carrying the man’s body in the traditional tribal procession. You will find these relationships consistent among deployed soldiers and marines.

On average, we speak 3+ languages, have visited 30+ countries, and have spent 7+ years overseas (just so you understand we have some basis for our opinions on international policy).

We could go on about this in great detail, but it would be a waste of a perfectly good MMA website.

What is absolutely true:

We hate terrorists. We hate they way they treat women. We hate the way they rape boys and hurt children (a common practice since women are off limits for the unmarried). And yeah, we kind of hate the way they attacked our country, killed our people, and are waging an international war against us to the death.

We are absolutely unapolgetic in that regard. Many of our shirts are about that, and the general humor of military life. Vets, the guys currently in the sandbox, and quite honestly, a whole lot of patriotic Americans, Canadians, Brits, and Aussies get that because they understand the context of our humor. If you don’t please send questions/comments/hate mail to admin@rangerup.com. We won’t respond to anything here, as we don’t want to clog this thread.

I’m not sure that site is racist but its cheap humor and “attitude shirts” suck in general so there is nothing new there.

But hey, if the staff can manage to find a sponsor that actually pays when they are supposed to then good for 5oz.

Honestly, I don’t give a shit if they support the site, it’s not like I’m boycotting FOP. I appreciate the job Sam does but it’s my responsibility to call “Racist Assholes” on a website that’s selling shirts that further the entire world thinking the US is full of ignorant jerkoffs.

Shawn: Everybody gets an asshole and an opinion in life. The upset over the link to the website kind of related to the story is a little stupid, I have to agree.
The article was pretty cool, though I don’t like anyone getting any pesky reality into my opinions (note above) formed watching “reality TV”. Let me have my facile views damn you! I watched a person for at least a couple hours over several weeks and deserve to have completely unfair opinions about how they are outside of the tiny aperture of a camera.

Kidding. Kick ass read, not shakespeare, but who the fuck reads shakespeare for MMA insights? not me. If you want some great reading for behind the scenes fight stuff try “A Fighter’s Heart” by Sam Sheridan. outstanding stuff.

Alright guys I hate to be offensive to anyone and I complete respect your opinions and beliefs on anything MMA but in regards to the dudes site – fuck you.

And I don’t mean that in a mean way.

Take the shirts for what their worth. These guys are military guys who have fought for this country who also love the fight world. They saw this as an opportunity to combine the two to make clothes they like and make some money. Soldiers are programmed to hate the enemy and in this case the enemy is the Iraqi soldier. Part of this programming is the dehumanization of the enemy, which also involves a lot of unnecessary poking fun.

What is so racist? The derka-derka-derka t-shirt? The Douchebagistan t-shirt? Fact is, to someone who doesn’t speak the language a lot of those words do sound like derka-derka as I’m sure a lot of english sounds very strange to them. Also, we’re fighting a fucking war (or technically an occupation) over there and it doesn’t feel right if you’re bombing “Really-nice-people-istan” now does it; it’s much easier to blow up douchebagistan.

My only point here is it’s not racism. “Racism” would be if they said “Every person from the middle east is a piece of shit.” The statement simply isn’t true and is entirely racist. The shit these guys are putting on shirts is taking the current kickass military mentality and putting it on a couple shirts.

Granted, I think the “Nobody likes John Kerry” could easily be replaced with a Bush t-shirt but it doesn’t matter. This article was about a guys butterflies for his first time cornering a UFC fighter and a few of you have turned it into calling his pro-military t-shirt company racist? Give me a break.

I read Fujin’s comment and visited the clothing site. I didn’t get much further than the t-shirts. Really unfortunate attitudes to spread among fighters (civilian or otherwise). Similarly, Barrera’s performances are not to be emulated by anyone who wants to be successful in MMA. Just my opinion. With both of these things in mind, fascinating read.

I appreciate the fact the site has to make money to cover it’s bills, pay everyone, etc. but I took a look at “Ranger Up”s site and honestly I think the racism shown in their clothing is pretty disgusting.
