Report: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon on April 2nd

Ken Florian and Joe Lauzon have verbally agreed to meet in a headlining UFC lightweight bout on Spike TV, Florian’s camp confirmed Wednesday. The proposed match-up would see the pair of popular New England fighters meet in the main event for a UFC Fight Night tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 2.
Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon is great matchmaking. But is it what you expected? Definitely not. Kenny Florian looked like a guy who was on his way to a title shot and it seemed, from his appearance in the broadcast booth at the main event of the TUF 6 Finale, that he would fight the winner of Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta, possibly for a title shot. If the above is true, then that clearly wasn’t the case. It makes you wonder what the UFC has in store for Kenny Florian. Now who will Roger Huerta face? Surely he doesn’t get a title shot after Sherk, does he?
As for Lauzon, this is a very high profile matchup for him, one where he clearly has everything to gain.

good luck to joe, but personally i think kenny does everything joe does alittle better… minus the ground and pound…. but even if joe is on top, he won’t be able to position himself well enough since he’ll be fending off submission attempts… i see this one ending in round 2 via triangle choke for ken-flo
It should be a great fight. I would expect to see Florian win, but wouldn’t be suprised by a Lauzon submission. Florian should have the striking advantage.
weird? this is like clone vs clone. KenFlo would be last years model with a couple’a upgrades.
It might’ve had a few more scrapes and scratches, but it beats the new model in the quarter mile.
Huerta deserves a title shot period. He has won like 16 in a row and is perfect in the ufc. Take a look at all the rest of the contenders and most don’t even have 16 professional fights. Huerta is exciting has had three potential fights of the year in 2007. People are talking title contender for ken-flo after winning 2 1/2 fights (Din Thomas fight doesn’t count).
K-flo by cut stoppage. thats his game plan right? sorry but all his big wins are by cut stoppage aka garbage. id rather watch bj kick flo’s ass but ill settle for joe. flo’s a girls name.

i say next for huerta is frankie edgar who has guidas wrestling and better striking, so will give him a very good fight. plus he is fresh off a dominant win over a really good striker in spencer fisher.
Good luck to J-Lau and I wish him the best. He is a stand-up guy and I am glad there are men like him in the UFC representing the sport!
huerta has beat 1 decent fighter in guida aside from that the ufc has fed him no name stepping stones
Ken Flo with that black belt in BJJ and his kickboxing looks good on paper, but J Lau seems more aggressive and might get the W that way.
I love both these fighters though, sucks that one has to lose!
i think roger huerta should fight frankie edgar, that will def determine if huerta gets a title shot. on the other hand i believe joe luzon gona take out florian b/c he been training in bjj extensively and def have a edge on kenny florian b/c its a 3 round fight.
