    Machida is a fucking beast.

  3. Zack on December 29th, 2007 10:56 pm

Soko looked as lost on the ground as Houston Alexander against Thiago Silva….so..why not:

Thiago vs Machida - winner gets Rampage/Forrest winner
    Soko vs Houston

  4. Paul Balsom on December 29th, 2007 10:58 pm

Soko looked lost on the ground in round 2…. round 1 machida was completely ineffective

  5. Rich on December 29th, 2007 11:20 pm

no matter how hard machida tries he can’t finish the weak ones but on his first actual TEST he finishes his opponent. . .
i hate it when that stuff happens.
    machida does’nt impress me. . .
and thiago would make a mockery of lyoto.

Here’s what I’ve learned (for the second time) - never pick strength over technique.

  7. Paul Balsom on December 29th, 2007 11:34 pm

Anybody notice the Sylvia/Nogiera fight confirmation a minute ago (before Chuck/Wandy)???

  8. Zack on December 29th, 2007 11:59 pm

awesome fight, except chuck clearly was looking for the decision at the end of the 3rd. Round 2 was a fucking classic.

  9. Paul Balsom on December 29th, 2007 11:59 pm

    wow.

  10. lane on December 30th, 2007 12:42 am

  11. lane on December 30th, 2007 12:43 am

  12. Zack on December 30th, 2007 12:52 am

  13. Adam Morgan on December 30th, 2007 12:57 am

Where’s Dizzle at to eat his Matt Hughes crow?

  14. Alex Pelletier on December 30th, 2007 1:08 am

Great performance by GSP tonight. He’s getting better everytime we see him fight in the octagon.

  15. Wang Chung on December 30th, 2007 1:08 am

st. pierre looked insane tonite. i dunno wanna sound like i’m falling all over the guy’s ball-pouch, but his skill level is seriously scary.

  16. Adam Morgan on December 30th, 2007 1:10 am

    Wang,

You’re 100% correct. GSP has amazing skill. He will avenge his loss to Serra and be the real deal at WW again.

  17. Sam Cupitt on December 30th, 2007 1:28 am

Damn Chuck looked good. Wasn’t a bad couple of takedowns either. They need to give Wanderlei a warm up fight next… Rashad Evans maybe? But then theres risk of LnP.

St Pierre made Hughes his bitch. ‘Nuff Said.

Machida is a beast… Chuck vs Machida on the Rampage Griffin card.

Guillard had his traditional showing… He talked a big game, couldn’t back it up and then was classless in defeat.

AND FINALLY… Soa Palalei was completely useless and Eddie Sanchez should not set foot on a main card again unless it features his head connected to the fist of Andre Arlovski repeatedly.

  18. Wang Chung on December 30th, 2007 1:32 am

i can’t see anyone touching the guy. he’s just disgustingly good. it’s not like guys in the past either who have looked invincible….the chucks, hughes, silva’s…they all have an aspect or 2 of their game that’s dominant. georges on the other hand just looks fucking retarded everywhere. that said…i think the only guy that stands a real chance of putting georges to the test is fitch. but he’s going to have to fight some top competition, even kos, to get there. beyond that i don’t see a single current WW seriously challenging georges.

  19. Echolocating on December 30th, 2007 2:01 am

After reading Sam Cuppitt’s opinion of Eddie Sanchez and a few others on other sites, I have to disagree that Sanchez “ruined” the fight. Soa Palelei is an extremely massive guy at 6′ 4”. The guy drags his knuckles when he walks and his legs are like tree trunks; very few people could have pushed him around. Sanchez fought well enough, I thought.

Here’s something to consider… why not put proven UFC fighters on the televised card instead of broadcasting speculative debuts on PPV events? Save the Sokoudjou’s and Palelei’s for the Fight Nights (or even PPV undercards). I’m not trying to take anything away from Machida and Sanchez, by the way.

I just want to see good fights, I could care less about watching someone’s debut into the UFC… the exception tonight being Wanderlei’s debut/return to the Octagon. Unless the fighter is extremely decorated in other MMA organizations (for example, Dan Henderson), have them prove themselves before being televised on a PPV.

  20. Echolocating on December 30th, 2007 2:06 am

EDIT: Where I wrote undercard, I meant the preliminary (usually not televised) card.

  21. Sam Cupitt on December 30th, 2007 2:14 am

Palelei was terrible, he looked like he left his consciousness in Australia.

I’ll bet my lunch money that Serra doesn’t re-match with GSP. Serra didn’t want any part of Hughes, and the way GSP manhandled Hughes sent a message.
