Matt Hughes could be looking into retirement

Gary Herman of 15rounds.com, CBSSports.com, and FiveOuncesOfPain.com always does a good job of rounding up news and notes whenever he covers an event live. He has some real interesting tidbits posted in his latest CBSSports.com News & Notes column for UFC 79.

In addition to his comments immediately following his loss to Georges St. Pierre, Matt Hughes addressed his future further while backstage after the event:

“I’m not going to come out here and be someone’s highlight reel,” said Hughes, “I have to see what the UFC wants me to do, and I have to see what my family wants me to do.”

Serra will never get into the octagon with Hughes. He talked so much trash during TUF that he stands to look stupid if he loses. Meanwhile, GSP will be ready to prove something at Serra’s expense if they ever re-match. I’ll bet he never comes back. He can run his gyms re-live his win against GSP for the rest of his life.

    now now…
serra isn’t a bitch, and he sure isn’t a chump. he has hung in there with the best of them, and finished the arguably #1 p4p fighter in the world. provided he heals properly and can fight, he’ll fight georges. he’ll lose, but he’lll fight him. and then he’ll fight hughes and personally i’m not so sure hughes can be considered an overwhelming favorite in that fight.
