HDNet Fights has canceled its next scheduled card for February 15 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, reports Loretta Hunt of The Fight Network.
“We’re taking the time to build a little more infrastructure that’s all our own,” HDNet Fights president Guy Mezger is quoted as saying in the article. “Right now, we share a lot of it with HDNet and the [Dallas] Mavericks.”
According to Hunt, HDNet Fights will hold its next card during early spring or summer, depending on venue availability.
In the meantime, HDNet will focus on televising events from its multiple content partners that includes the IFL, Sportfight, and Ring of Combat. The article also mentions the possibility of a second Yarrenoka! event in March.
There’s been some speculation on message boards that the cancellation is a bad sign for the financial stability of Mark Cuban’s fledgling fight promotion. That may or may not be the case.
