hehehe.anderson is right.the ufc fighters should ask for an increase.they can do what hollywoood writers did.bond together and go on strike. until Dana gives them an increase.mma fighters train 3x more than boxers so they should get even more money than boxers. stop the talk Dana .and start paying!!!ufc fighers can use the mohmad ali act which states that fighters should get bigger percentage on ppv..

Dana is liar. we dont talk business in public? how bout him guesting in bloomberg and talking about business. how bout him always in the media and ranting this and that that ufc is a mulitmillion dollar blah blah blah.the truth is he is really afraid of the new competion out there.he hyped the ufc so much that theyre supose to earning tons of money.but he did not say that they also spend tons of money to advertise it.so actually theyre net income is not as big as he hyped it to be.
the problem.1 now ufc fighters want a bigger slice of the pie—dana now cant deny he dosent have money.because he’s preaching that they have(but they dont)
2.everybody wants to get in mma.specially bigger business people like the billonare dalas maverick owner. m1 .and now tito ortiz wants to go solo to earn biger ppv.. so if you pay low and these guys come in. it would be huge turmoil for the ufc. you will see a lot of defection resulting in court dates which is all bad for mma… by the way i saw the ppv numbers of Evan up there… manny pacquiao is no 11 at ppv but he got a 3M dollar paycheck plus ppv revenue of about a million…Coture is number 6 ppv. and gets 250,000paycheck. whats up with that Dana?pay fighters the right way

It doesn’t. That’s why they don’t inflate the numbers when they’re telling the top PPV main event fighters what the PPV buyrates were and handing out the PPV bonus checks. But apparently, of all the ridiculous things Gary Shaw said in that interview, the one statement that bothered Dana White the most or required a response the most was one that actually appears to be true from all indications: that the UFC’s 2007 PPV numbers were down from the UFC’s 2006 PPV numbers. And in the predictable bravado that you had to know was coming, Dana White went on the record saying that the opposite was true. My point was then to say that it’s going to become increasingly difficult to keep telling PPV main event fighters in contract negotiations that their PPV numbers are down at the same time they are saying the exact opposite in a public interview like this.

If the UFC is going to cook the books about PPV’s to short change the fighters, wouldn’t UFC want to understate the numbers? I can’t imagine a contract in which the fighters get more money as the PPV’s decline. If UFC is inflating the numbers, that should cost them more when paying the fighters. Inflated numbers might be in UFC’s interest when wooing sponsors or investors or networks, but I don’t see how that helps them push down fighter compensation.

Even if UFC 78 and UFC 79 both did WAY above expectations, there’s still no way they would have matched the 2006 total of $222 million in gross PPV revenue. So again, either the published numbers are wrong, or Dana White is not being truthful when he says that they beat their own 2006 record in 2007, or the PPV numbers being provided to everyone else are not the “real” pay-per-view numbers.

The reason this becomes increasingly relevant is because the top PPV main-eventers are getting paid based on what they are told the PPV numbers are, and the fighters have no way of knowing if the numbers they’re told are the actual numbers.

All that matters is that Shaw is an idiot and the UFC is hugely succesful. Those are the facts. Love him or hate him, White can back up what he says with proof while every time Shaw opens his mouth he makes himself look more like an infected asshole than a promoter.

It’s always a little entertaining to listen to two guys trash talk. Little is the operative word. After a few clever retorts, you have to look past the chin noise and look at the facts. The facts are that UFC is hugely successful, and that success is due in substantial part to White. Nobody could or should take Shaw seriously until he has the same or comparable success as White. Sure he’s just trying to get headlines, but his comments are so patently stupid that his stupidity is the headline. Does anybody truly want that kind of publicity?
