Comments on: Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine most likely opponents for Chuck Liddell?

What’s totally fictional? Meltzer didn’t say Jardine and Silva are next for Liddell. He did say that they are the two most viable. When it comes to UFC info, Meltzer is usually very accurate. There’s nothing fictional about it.

Alexander is expected to fight James Irvin at UFC 83 and Shogun is expected to compete at UFC 84 on April 19. Liddell won’t be fighting on Montreal. So I think there is a lot of validity to what Meltzer is saying because there aren’t a lot of obvious options.

I highly doubt that Houston Alexander vs liddell will happen.

I see Alexander fighting Silva if anything.

This is totally fictional. Its too early for Chuck to fight those two guys again.

I’d guess they’ll put him up against a grappler next. Who that is I don’t know. Evans? Both of them will be due for another fight at the same time.

Besides that I can’t really see how the UFC could protect Chuck anymore. He’s just part of the pack now. Maybe Alexander would be a good matchup for him because of Chuck’s reach advantage… Machida would be a good opponent for Liddell, but isn’t he gonna fight Tito next?

I agree, I think especially with respect to the light heavyweight division, it’s more about the marketing then the records of the fighters. Does Forrest, as much as I like him, deserve a title shot over someone like Machida? Forrest beat Shogun, but who cares?

Jardine beats Chuck and it doesn’t seem to matter. Houston Alexander has only three fights in the UFC, and everyone’s kissing his ass.

And where’s Rashad in all of this?

Yeah i think they should rematch Houston Alexander and Jardine first but ufc is all about how much they are going to make rather than what should be. Just like Bisping and Hamill .Hamill clearly won and they stripped him of the win and on top of it they said there would be a rematch and what they are just looking for what fight makes the most money instead of what the fighters deserve.And another that should have happened and was said by Dana a rematch between Rasad and Tito right away he said .Never happened!!!!!!!!!!!

Neither one of these matches will happen anytime soon, you can all bet on that. This is a rumor from Dave Meltzer and I’m surprised no one else has noticed, but everything he says is BULLSHIT. No truth behind this at all, because there’s never any truth behind anything reported by Meltzer.

it would be absolutely ludicrous if they put liddell directly back into a match w/ wandy, without any fights in between for either of them… that would just be stupid…
i think they should go jardine vs. rashad evans… in a rematch from the show…
i wouldn’t mind seeing that.. since, i thought jardine was going to destroy evans on the show… and things turned out otherwise..
actually, i’d just like to see jardine get the winner of thiago/evans.

Jardine should be in line for some reward or acknowledgement. Few people including me thought he had a chance. His game plan was perfect and perfectly executed. Rampage and Griffin will fight at the end of TUF, and Jardine should get a shot at the winner.

Chuck v Evans or Machida

I have no desire to see Chuck fight Jardine again. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like Chuck is going to fight until early summer.

How can the UFC possibly keep Jardine from fighting until then? By that time, nobody will really care about a rematch.

I wonder how much enthusiasm Chuck would have for a re-match with Jardine. That loss was no fluke. Imo, Jardine matches up very well with Chuck because of his patience and killer leg kicks. I wouldn’t bet against Jardine in a re-match. Chuck would be better off fighting Evans, for example. He’s always beaten grapplers and wrestlers–Tito, Bobbaloo, and Couture, for example. If I were in his shoes, I’d be a little cautious until I’d put together a few wins.

Sadly, it looks like the UFC is taking everyone off the shelf so that Jardine must face Liddell. Machida has been offered Tito. Rashad has been offered Thiago Silva. Houston is fighting James Irvin. If Jardine and his camp were smart, they would refuse the Chuck rematch outright. After all, he already beat him and there is no reason to fight again so soon.

Evans fought Jardine on TUF. Jardine dropped him i believe but then Rashad sat on him for the rest of the fight.

Did these guys fight already? I wasn’t aware of that? Was it on TUF?

Anyway, I agree that Chuck v Silva II is a waste of marketing power… at least at this point. I’d love to see Chuck fight Evans or Machida… then go for a title shot if he wins. Though Ortiz v Machida could be cool, too.

I think Liddell/Shogun is a bit premature, unless Shogun picks up a win beforehand.

Jardine/Machida seems to make real sense… I think Machida would beat Jardine handily.
