It seems that Ken Shamrock, one of MMA’s most recognizable faces, and his son Ryan Shamrock, have signed multi-fight deals with Gary Shaw’s EliteXC promotion and will be fighting on the upcoming Cage Rage 25 card on March 8th according to a press release this evening from ProElite.com:
“I’m totally committed to returning to the cage injury free and anxious about fighting in England for the first time,’’ the older Shamrock said. “It is very exciting for both Ryan and I. We will be making MMA history by being the first father and son to ever fight on the same card.
“This is a great opportunity we are getting with EliteXC. Give me a fight or two and I will be ready to fight anybody.’’
Details of the contracts were not disclosed.
Does anyone really care to see Ken Shamrock fight again? He’s had his ass handed to him in several fights in a row now and his only win of note in the past 4 years is a win over Kimo Leopoldo who is a shell of his former self as well. The only fight that Shamrock needs to think about taking is a fight with his adopted brother, Frank. It would be a big payday for him and would be a swell send-off from the world of MMA. Any other fight than that is a risk for Ken.
