Mac Danzig v. Mark Bocek rumored for UFC 84

Looks like the winner of TUF 6, Mac Danzig, won’t be waiting too long to debut in the cage as a lightweight according to a report from The Fight Network today:
“The Ultimate Fighter” season six winner Mac Danzig will face highly-regarded Canadian Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Mark Bocek at UFC 84 on Saturday, April 19 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Danzig’s manager, Monte Cox, confirmed the bout.
The UFC is stacking this card with Canadian talent and that’s a smart move. Georges St. Pierre fighting for the unified title should be enough to make the Canadians buy tickets but putting more local talent on the card never hurts. Danzig should give Bocek a pretty good beating, however. His experience, skillset, and talent may be too much for the Canadian BJJ black belt. Bocek does one thing great. Danzig does everything well.

I really like Danzig but he just didn’t fit in TUF. Great addiction to this card.

I think it’s a good move, but how much ‘talent’ do Canadian talents have? I’m not really asking for a stellar card, but I don’t want UFC Validation + Georges St. Pierre, either.
How much talent do Canadian talents have? You know it occurred to me that with the United States having a population of over 200 million, and Canada having a fraction of that(approx. 34 million), it would be harder to develop and discover talent up here. Not to mention the lack of money put into our sports programs. But that is not the case.
To put it into perspective, Georges St.Pierre started wrestling on his own time. Not for high school and not for college. He wrestled recreationally untill he became good enough to be invited to train with our national team. A national team that has won many gold, silvers, and bronzes over the recent years in many different international competitions. How did he do that without training with collegiate level wrestlers? Watch out, if we can develop wrestlers like that without the supposed better level of competition south of the the borders.
Canada is well regarded as a ridiculous hotbed of MMA, far disproportionate to the population size. Every small city - Victoria, Sudbury, Niagara Falls - has at least a couple of MMA gyms (I think Victoria has FIVE, or something stupid like that). There is and will continue to be a lot of decent MMA fighters coming out of Canada. That doesn’t mean the BEST will be from here, but enough to fill up a quality card for sure.
