Whose bright idea was it to put UFC80 on the same day that Newcastle United are playing an evening home match? That’s 50000 odd potential ticket purchasers sidelined as I would have thought the crossover between the demographics of football and MMA is quite large (and certainly in a city like Newcastle).
Not to mention Roy Jones Jr vs Felix Trinidad here in the states
I am so glad about the Rivera whipping Kendall.
Al…thats what I was asking about The Manchester card and a potential 76k seats!
Are you a NU supporter AL? What do you think of the big change? I give him two years. Recycling never works for managers!
WTF is up with posting the results before the PPV??
I am not even going to order it now.
Might have to inform the UFC of this travesty.
This PPV is not going to make nearly as good money
lmao
apparently egad didn’t get the memo that the PPV started 4 hours ago.
There you go champ… it’s almost like I saved you $50.
Egad, go ahead and inform the UFC. We’re an MMA news site. When you came to FiveOuncesOfPain.com what did you expect to find? No results for a major PPV that already aired live? Shame on you for going to MMA sites and not expecting to see results for a PPV that already aired.

Ignore the egad-dufus. Talk about the fights, please.
How impressive was BJ Penn? Rivera learned some new tricks, eh?
Did GG’s lackluster performance diminish the significance of Randy’s victory over him?
Who’s next for Marcus Davis. With hands like that, he deserves a chance to KO a contender, no?
Well the UFC hyped Gonzaga and not Werdum and now Werdum comes out the victor. So now we have Werdum ranked higher in the division than Gonzaga with no hype surrounding him, another missed opportunity by the UFC. Why can’t they build up fights and fighters properly, they gotta fire some guys and get in a better team to control this side of business. The UFC has a cracking heavyweight division and instead of excitement surrounding the fights and the fighters, the excitement is found in only the fights themselves. Come on UFC why can’t you build excitement behind your fights and fighters?
wow man i just finish seeing the fights and man b.j. penn is the man……it was a decent card all around.
Maybe UFC.com should report themselves alongside Five Oz for posting results after the LIVE event. Obviously they have no problems with posting news as it happens… where are you egad???
There’s no cognitive skills assessment test that to become a fight fan. Give Egad a break. On second thought, maybe this was the critical thinking test, and Egad flunked. Maybe he’ll have better luck with San Jose only promotions.
yeah, I don’t proofread my comments.
man, after rewatching the penn bout, that was crazy domination.
That’s what I’m talkin’ about. It almost seemed as if BJ could have ended it at any time. Did Joe even try for a take down? That’s gonna be Sherk’s only weapon (plus laynpray) and we didn’t get to see how BJ handles muscle-bound wrestling moves.
Need to see BJ vs.:
-Sherk/Edgar/Griffin/Ishida (same dif)
-Florian
-Huerta
-Milendez
Then, and only then, is he allowed to go back up to 170.
Hopefully BJ stays there enough to rip through the light weight division. I really am not a bj nuthugger cause mans theres lots out there. I always respected him ,and always thought his first fight with pulver is one of the greatest, but i just never really cared too much for him. Yes, bj is amazing, and i think that if he was that focused, and conditioned at 170 he would be champion. Gosh! i sound like one of the nuthuggers, but yeah he is good. One of the best of our time.
Jaydog, I agree about most of the wrestlers accept for Sherk. He’s different. The girth of his body alone will present different problems than the other solid wrestlers. The size of his neck makes it hard for submissions, and it seems like Sherk has more raw strength, whereas BJ has crazy technique. It will be an awesome clash of styles when they fight.
Is anyone particularly bothered at how gassed Penn looked at the end of the fight?
I WANTED STEVENSON TO WIN SOOO BAD!!!
my ufc fantasy card on ufc.com . . . was completely off.
usually i predict these cards pretty well.
but on the last two events i’ve done HORRIBLY!!
i’ll get the next one.
Gong, i don’t really agree. It’s a bit of a blood rush to choke somebody out, but by no means did I interpret BJ Penn’s actions as that of a gassed out fighter after the fight.
i’m glad werdum won. . . i’ve never liked gonzaga . . . and chute box academy is where it’s at. . . i could see him rising to the top fast now. .
i honestly didn’t think that stevenson would get sub’d. i really did think that he was too smart for that. and that he wouldn’t get caught in something.
i’m pretty sad about that one. . .
I CAN’T BELIEVE ALL THE QUICK FIGHTS!!
i think bj penn looked so gassed because once the fight is over, the adrenaline rush is over too. when u let your guard down and release the rush its like a ton of bricks hitting you at once. i could be wrong, but bj was dam impressive, and joe has nothing to be ashamed about, hes still young and can go a long way with more training. bj is a freak of nature and didnt get the name prodigy for nothing. cant wait to see him put it on sherk and i just hope sherk gives up the juice instead of just trying to hide it better for next one. he still doesnt deserve the chance to face penn next imo, if he isnt going to be banned or thrown in jail for lying about it, then he should have to start all over and prove himself again. after all he wasnt stripped for nothing either. just my unhumble opinion
a surprisingly good ufc, on paper it really didnt look that exciting to me, but love to be proved wrong when it comes to these type of fight cards.
Did anyone else notice than Penn laid down after the victory and had to be helped off the ground? Then he was leaning on Herb Dean and Joe Rogan in the Octagon and looked wobbly walking back down the aisle.
Did he dominate Joe? Yes.
Did he have abs for the first time ever? Yes.
Could he have lasted 5 rounds? Not a chance.
Paul - That’s true. I’ve seen a number of guys choke out/dominate other guys in really exciting ways but I just felt like his behaviour was a bit off after the fight (assuming he didn’t gas).
I’m just concerned. I’ll be rooting for him against Sherk, but we all know that he HAS to be in the best condition possible for that one.
Just watched am Stout def. Per Eklund….another good fight. Sam Stout has a great future in the UFC.
Per Eklund….see ya in Cage Rage…
