IFL to Announce Bas Rutten as new Vice President, Fighter Operations (updated)
ProElite.com (SamCaplan.ProElite.com) has learned that the IFL will announce later today the promotion of former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten to the newly-created position of vice president, fighter operations.
Rutten will report directly to IFL CEO Jay Larkin.
The affable Rutten has served with the fight promotion since its inception as a coach and commentator. He was originally brought on to serve as the head coach of the Los Angeles Anacondas but stepped down from that position in early-2007 after being tabbed to serve as a color commentator opposite Kenny Rice on “IFL Battleground.”
There is no word whether Rutten will continue as a commentator for the promotion, but he will remain in his role as a co-host of HDNet’s “Inside MMA.”
Updated: We’ve been informed that Rutten will continue in his role as a color commentator for the IFL.

nice!Bas is the man
I wonder what his exact duties will be.
Larkin handles the business side. It sounds like Bas will be handling the fighter side.
But he will be scouting? “In between” guy between fighters and the suits?
W00t! W00t! Go Bas! He’s moving up the ladder fast.
bas is awesome
He’ll be a great spokesman for the organization. If they’re smart they’ll keep him out front. Maybe Bas can do something about their format. All that filler drives me nuts.
