This card is turning out great IMO. I see much more established talent then last night. I see 5 potential televised fights, but I guess one big name will be left off if they only televise 4.

this is like a pride bushido style kind of card, much more potential than UFC 81
i guess if they show 5 fights, they’ll drop din thomas and tommy speer

This is like … overcompensation for UFN 12. Good stuff.

looks like pretty much awesomeness. we’re going to have 700 minutes of commercials. Thank goodness for DVR.

Maybe Clay can get a win. Kind of looking forward to the shit talking/signing between Bonnar and Hamill.

  6. Sam Cupitt on January 25th, 2008 1:24 am

Bonnar will make Hamill his beutch… i know i said this about Bisping but Bonnar is 10 times better than Bisping.

You can kinda see why they moved Danzig off this card

  7. screwface on January 25th, 2008 1:40 am

Sam Cupitt im surprised you say Bonnar is 10 times better than Bisping only because of the way Rashad Evans easily manhandled Bonnar when they fought. Im gonna take that to mean you love Rashad now :p

  8. Sam Cupitt on January 25th, 2008 2:15 am

Come now Screwface don’t be mean. You know my detest for Rashad.

Bonnar’s head wasn’t right for that fight… yes that sounds plausible… his head wasn’t right. I’m going to borrow a quote from someone on this site.

Rashad Evans and Matt Hamill should have a fight to the death and the winner should go to jail.

    bonnar’s amazing.
    and he’s only getting better.
    he’ll sub hamill.

    and…

Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon -Confirmed
Stephan Bonnar vs. Matt Hamill - Confirmed
    Spencer Fisher vs. Marcus Aurelio
    Karo Parisyan vs. Thiago Alves
    Din Thomas vs. Josh Neer

    those fights look AMAZING!!

    particullarly the kenflo/j-lau and thomas/neer fights… to me…

    i hope speer loses.
    i guess that sounds mean.
but ever since he beat sotiropulous i’ve hated him.
    if THEY rematched.
it would be a completely different story.

Thank god this is the one I chose to drop my $$$ on for my first live MMA event. My best friend lives in Denver (I’m in Dallas), and when I saw that Karo was going to be on the card, I bought tix right away. Now I get to see my current fave fighter, Guida, along with a handful of other greats.

My one concern is how slow the televised portion of the show will be given how riddled with commercials the UFN boradcasts are. I wonder if it will kill the momentum inside the arena?

  11. Evan on January 25th, 2008 2:29 pm

Hey Zack…I’m in Dallas as well.

  12. Zack on January 25th, 2008 2:40 pm

Cool - so is Ram, one of the new 5oz writers. If we get a decent HD Net card here in the next few months (like the proposed Trigg vs Mayhem match-up), we should try and get a local 5oz crew together to see the fights at the AA center.

  13. Evan on January 25th, 2008 3:13 pm

Works for me. I can get us behind the scenes and we can poke around as long as we stay out of everyone’s way.

  14. Evan on January 25th, 2008 3:16 pm

And there will be a solid one but most likely it will be in May.

  15. Sam Cupitt on January 25th, 2008 5:14 pm

If you do… take pictures. That shit would be postworthy.

  16. Evan on January 25th, 2008 5:20 pm

    Will do.

  17. Zack on January 25th, 2008 5:27 pm

    Sounds cool. I’m down

  18. Evan on January 25th, 2008 6:55 pm

Well we have another guy who reads this site, hankd, he will be there as well.

  19. josh b on January 26th, 2008 5:54 am

im in little rock! if youll have room for one more count me in!

  20. Evan on January 26th, 2008 8:59 am

    Awesome

  21. Sergio on January 26th, 2008 10:11 am

    Reppin’ the 817 right here.

Evan, Zach… do you guys train?

  22. Evan on January 26th, 2008 11:27 am

    No sir. Just a consumer.

  23. Sergio on January 26th, 2008 1:45 pm

    Ah, alright.

I trained at North Texas MMA in Lewisville for a year when I was living in Denton a couple of years back. Looking at Arlington MMA to get back into the swing of things.
