Rumor Killer: Matt Major NOT on 7th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” (TUF 7)

FiveOuncesOfPain.com (www.FiveOuncesOfPain.com) has learned from a representative at the American Kickboxing Academy that middleweight prospect Matt Major is not involved with the upcoming seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Major had been rumored as being involved with the show ever since TUF 7 was announced by Spike TV and the UFC last year.

Major gained notoriety during a summer appearance on the Versus’ MMA reality show “TapouT.” During the course of the show, the creators of the TapouT clothing line were shown escorting Major cross-country from California to his pro debut on a regional show held in Decatur, Illinois.

Major was victorious in the bout, which was taped in April of 2007, when he recorded a unanimous decision over Adrian Hopson. While he was unable to finish a winded Hopson, Major showed tremendous raw athletic ability and dynamic striking skills.

However, Major garnered the most attention when he was shown as being involved in a shouting match with a local-based fighter that tried to offer him some guidance immediately following his debut. The verbal altercation nearly became physical.

Many fans felt that the volatile personality displayed by Major on “TapouT” would translate well on “The Ultimate Fighter.” While the middleweight prospect is definitely someone fans should keep an eye on in the future, they will not get a chance to see him on TUF this year.

I remember him. He looks like he has potential. Maybe , in a couple of years we may see his name showing up in bigger shows.

Anyhow it would of been more impressive if the “altercation that almost becasme physical” between Major and another fighter.

IMPORTANT to note…….The fighter in which Major had the altercation with was about 5′ 5″ or 6″ and 135 or 145 lbs. That didnt impress me too much. Maybe if Major got into the face of someone with the SAME height and WEIGHT difference in the other direction. I would of been impressed if Major did that to someone 6′ 8″ and 250 lbs. Then maybe it would of been impressive

    ya.
i saw the episode of TapouT that he was on.

    believe me,
major would have done the same to someone of any height.
he’s one of those guys who won’t take shit from anyone.

George Foreman should sponsor that guy. I’ve never even heard of anybody so attached to a George Foreman grill. Now if the dude in Decatur had talked smack about the grill, fists would have flown.

He seemed like an asshole on the show. Which sucks because he seems to have a lot of potential. Hopefully he learns to tone it down.

He’s one of those “don’t tell me to relax” people. I have no use for them.

Does anyone know why he was not selected?

He probably wasn’t selected because he’s a liability. That guy is a ticking time bomb. If what happened on the “tapout” show set him off, imagine him being stuck in a house for 6 weeks.

The guy is an A-hole that wouldve translated for some good tv on TUF 7, but hed never see the light of day with a UFC contract. Richie Hightower has a better shot than Major does.

I’m glad he’s not on the show. Although he looked like a decent fighter on Tapout he would be way too much drama on the show. While he would have made for good ratings he probably only would have lasted a day before getting kicked off the show and out of the UFC permenantly. In the end I think he would be more of a distraction because the show should deal more with fighting instead of drama. Its The ultimate fighter not the OC.
