Meet TUF 7’s Dan Simmler (video)
Posted by Adam MorganMMA Junkie broke the news this week that Serra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu student Dan Simmler would be on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Simmler has no professional MMA bouts and is 2-0 as an amateur but comes into the show as a highly decorated BJJ player and submission grappler.
It’s tough to find video on a guy that has only two amateur MMA fights so grappling videos is as good as it gets. First we have Simmler with a quick win via flying triangle. After the jump we have Simmler taking on Jimmy Quinlan in a rubber match where once again Simmler uses the flying triangle to his advantage. For reference’s sake, Simmler is in the brown top and black shorts.

I just hope he sticks with it longer than he classmate did.
Here is another of Dan vs my brother, Jesse Peterson. The match goes into OT where Dan slaps on a nice triangle for the tap, but where Dan ever ties the match up during the regular round is beyond me; to this day I fail to see where he scores any points prior to the actual tap. All the same, congrats to Dan–he is an amazing BJJ artist who is ALWAYS fun and impressive to watch.

When Evan Tanner fought Justin Levens at UFC 59 he pretty much did a flying triangle…
he really just jumped and pulled him into his guard but transitioned to a triangle immediately…
but that was nice from Dan.
I think what happened w the Peterson fight was Simmler was given the 2 for the leg pick take doan, he immediately jumped for the triangle, technically the reason they are on the ground was cause of the original attack. I emailed the academy to see what they think of the call, hah >:)
