FINAL FOUR, just like in ncaa basketball. Ithink a four man tournament with couture vs nogueria and fedor vs barnett with the winners meeting each other with in a three month time frame would just be the most exiting thing that ever happened to the sport of mma. JUST A DREAM I HAD LAST NIGHT.

RE:
Randy’s already lost a lot of matches so I don’t see him losing (if that happened) to Nog as a big deal. Minotauro hasn’t lost to many guys (Fedor, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson). If they allowed Choi to use knees, everything would change. He barely has to lift his leg to reach most others’ heads. Lesnar may be an interesting factor as well. Otherwise clearly Fedor is still #1. M1 really needs to find him some better match ups.

Big Nog never lost to Dan Henderson. That was lil Nog... his twin brother. Two different guys.

Rich. . .it was a briefly mentioned quip as the topic was already on the subject of "Contracts". There was no serious intent from me for the dialogue to cease on the subject, so I threw it in on the closing of my banter. I can't believe you took the time out to type that Rich, I expected more outta you in this forum as you usually have something good to say. Should I start to not take you seriously now on this subject matter? Hmmm. . . But if you wanna point out literary technicalities, then go teach English somewhere. Hahah! Much respect to you still my man, this was in jest!

# 22 BigBad Bradical Says:
February 8th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
What is this? A post for law school students/attorneys, or discussion about fighters? F–k what Randy did,he wanted to walk out, he did. NONE OF US are privvy to the specifics of his contract. He left for his intentions, and he will or will not be back. Let’s talk about fighting & fighters, not their contracts. Randy still is, IMO one of the best 3 HW fighters in the WORLD! Fedor is over-hyped, Nog is the man right now (and just a born & bred warrior, and speaking of contracts. . .Arlovksi is gettin’ screwed on his & possibly leaving the UFC.

Big Bad Brad contradicted himself in the same post. Nice!!!!

ok,
to #12...

The UFC hasn't disrespected Randy... he disrespected the UFC.. he's not obligating his contract because he can't get the fight he wants... and really... he doesn't deserve it.. ya.. he went to HW and totally muffed up Tim and Gonzaga... but what happened before that... he got KTFO'd by Liddell.. i don't think a 2 fight winning streak get's you a shot at #1 in the world..

and i'd just like to say that i pretty much agree w/ #19.. except your third point.. i think Fedor would beat him through wrestling.. ... .. he would definately overpower him... that's for sure..

# # 20 cyphron Says:

So if the contract has holes in it then it would be okay for Randy to break it?

Breaking a contract due to a technicality still makes Randy a goat and a coward.

Dana has a huge team of lawyers wording those ridiculously impressive contracts. If Randy finds a loophole then good for him. I'm tired of seeing Dana and the Fertittas rake in what must be tens of millions at each event (Tito says ~fifty mil not counting merchandising, and he's a better businessman than fighter these days so I kinda believe him) and still use these "we own you" contracts while paying them shit.

Minotauro is the interim UFC champ right now. No one really can say for sure what would happen in a fight with Nog. The losses that I remember seeing Randy take were from guys who outweighed him and wore him out, with the exception of Lidell. After the Gonzaga fight, and his overall training over the last 5 or 6 years, that doesn't seem to be a problem for him anymore. Randy Nog is a pickem fight, and for anyone to say Randy is running from Nog or anyone else is crazy in my oppinion.

The fact that Fedor went to another league was his choice and his loss. The best fight and win or lose with the best, and the UFC uses this as leverage. Regardless, Fedor is not fighting the best right now, and is letting the game pass him by, and while he wastes time fighting guy's I might have a half a chance against for a couple years, his game is going to errode. I agreed with the majority of the world a couple years back that he was probably the most skilled fighter out there, and I wanted to see him and Randy fight. Personally, I think that was the only fight Randy really wanted, which again would show his extremely competitive nature.

without seeing the contract myself...I can't say anything to be honest.

Every contract has holes in it because of wording.

Its like you can take the bible and make it say whatever you want it to say because you interpret things differently.

Derek- He did walk out on his contract. He resigned from his announcing employement contract. He walked out on his fighting contract.

Some facts in my opinion on this whole mess
1. Randy walked out on a legal obligation. If any of us did it in the business world, we would be held financially responsible, so should he.
2. Randy would lose to Noguera. Randy comes out of no where and wins two fights at heavy weight against an injured Tim sylvia and a green Gonzaga. These two wins do not make him the number two HW in the world. Nog has fought in the division for 10 years and has revenged every loss except Fedor. He could quit tomorrow and be the universal #2 HW in the world.
3. Randy and Fedor will never fight. And it will be good for Randy, because Fedor may well kill him in the ring. Randy reads his own press to much in my opinion. He thinks he can hang with fedor. If Chuck can knock Randy out, Fedor might knock his nose to the back of his head.

3. Randy and Fedor will never fight. And it will be good for Randy, because Fedor may well kill him in the ring. Randy reads his own press to much in my opinion. He thinks he can hang with fedor. If Chuck can knock Randy out, Fedor might knock his nose to the back of his head.

"There are “at will” employment contracts and then there are those other contracts that are given to performers."

The point of having a contract is so that the employment is not simply at will. At will basically means your employment is governed by state law and subject to whatever the state law says you can quit or be fired at any time. Having a contract with a term makes the parties agree that for a certain length of time the employee will not quit and the employer will not fire them (unless there is cause for termination (as defined in the agreement)) without facing certain consequences (e.g., foregoing bonus pay if you're the employee, having to pay severance if your the employee).

By resigning from his position he is refusing to perform his obligations under the contract and I think you could safely call that walking out on it. I don't think it's a question of legality. I mean, anyone can legally break a contract. You just might have some civil consequences to face (e.g., damages, specific performance, etc.).

Everyone wants to fight Fedor. I'm honestly sick of hearing about Fedor & his ranking. Nog is #1 in the biggest organization right now cuz he earned it & took whoever the UFC put in front of him w/o questioning it. Who has Fedor faught w/in the last yr. to prove he's truly a #1 fighter? If ranking & being the best in MMA was what this is all about, then Fedor would have signed w/the UFC. He didn't however, as he went to M-1 for more $$. The UFC is where the best fighters are at, and they're not necessarily there for the $$ either. So if you look @ it from the business side of it, then yeah Fedor made the right choice to go to M-1, as he's pulling down $1M per/fight. If you want to view it from a "warrior's philosophy", then it simply seems like he's taking the easy way out w/o having to do much battle. Fedor is & will continue to smash everyone in M-1, and that's because there aren't quality fighters to give someone like Fedor the challenge. If he signed w/the UFC, he'd have his wk cut out for him and it wouldn't be so easy to be, and to live upto the reputation he has now. I assure you there are @ least 2 fighters that can beat Fedor.
