Dana White: UFC 83 is going to be the biggest UFC event ever
Dana White was a guest for TSN Podcast Centre to promote the UFC’s first ever Canadian show, UFC 83. In the interview White answers a number of questions on whether or not he puts himself ahead of the fighters, why the UFC is holding an event in Montreal and towards the end he does some word association with the host.
Interesting notes from the interview include White saying that UFC 83 will be the biggest UFC event ever and that he thinks Fedor Emelianenko is the “number 5 ranked heavyweight in the world” which – by going off some other recent comments by the UFC president – technically means he has been promoted.

I’m sure Fedor will be delighted to find out that he is now in the top five, albeit just barely. Now Fedor joins the likes of Cheick Kongo and Heath Herring in the top five according to the same man.

Joe hit right on the head…Fedor is still the #1HW…I like Dana and he’s the reason why where sitting here talking MMA but his mouth is sometimes to loose with his opinions of people…listening to what he has to say about Tito, I think he’s down after his next fight…and some of his answers like Mayweather being the best fighter ever..Please…..I thought Dana grew up watching boxing? I’ll just throw a few names out there….the Greatest ever ALi, Sugar Ray, Hagler…Mayweather isn’t in the same breath with them…he hasn’t had the Epic battles like these Warriors…..

Even though D.W. has recently acknowledged the need for a unified worldwide ranking system, he has to know that Fedor really won’t fall below third(even with inactivity and hokey opposition). Fedor is the man. On anybody’s ranking system he is on the pound for pound best list, and for good reason.

I don’t know why you guys get worked up over whether Dana White think Fedor is #1 or #10. It’s just gamesmanship, the same way players and teams talk shit about their opponents. Right now, Fedor is on the other team, so Dana talks shit. There is a mass panty-bunch that occurs every time Dana says something like this and it is ridiculous.
