Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott (video)
Here’s the fight that every MMA site, for better or worse, was talking about over the weekend. Big thanks to SHOWTIME for putting this up on their site for general usage. Didn’t see Kimbo demolish Tank? Here’s your chance.

That EliteXC card would have been much better if it wasn’t for the drunk douche bags filling the crowd.
In the Silva Rodriguez fight, they were so against the grappling that they decided to make their own stand up fights in the crowd.
Even though they sold the place out, I don’t want to see EliteXC go back there.

You put an thug in the cage and take it to his thuggish home town, fill it with drunk uni kids who know NOTHING about MMA and complain!
Thats what happens.
Freak show match watched by pissed fans.

You guys and your talk of MMA like its the world’s greatest secret.
Gary Shaw looks like a genius for bringing EliteXC to Miami and putting Kimbo in the main event.
Fighting is Fighting fellas…. I would watch just about any fight anywhere.
There were brawls in the stands of almost every large MMA event I have ever attended. Some of those brawls were better then the MMA card itself.
I dont think that has to do with the people fighting but the drunkies with beer muscles and a taste of adrenaline.
The bottom line in MMA is money and Kimbo right now is MONEY!
EliteXC needs to clarify there heavyweight champion… OVEREEM vs KIMBO

Let’s see… Tank gets punched, hesitates for a second, and take a dive to the floor. I’m not watching any more Kimbo Slice fights until he fights legit fighters.

HAHA yea right…Cyphron if the videos are posted on the interwebz you’ll be watching them…
February 19th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Most overlooked point of the entire post…
Thank you Gary Shaw for posting the fight online!
Cheers,
Jay K.

Welcome to Miami home of impatience and short fuses (lets not forget the hot estrogen carrying devices)–on another note do you recall the fight in the stands at the last UFC Fight Night during the Sly Stallone interview?

Maybe Shaw and other promoters can set up a seperate “mosh pits” for drunken jackasses and fans who don’t understand grappling.

i love how everyone talks about how kimbo’s not an mma fighter.. and that he’s just a slugger.. for someone who’s roughly 250 lbs.. he’s pretty technical.. and bobs and weaves brilliantly..
oh.. and 2 of his 3 MMA fights ended via submission.. one being a legit sub.. so.. quit saying he’s not an MMA fighter…
i’m sure the first time he gets a submissionist or wrestler.. he’ll probably be able to prevent the takedown.. and KO them..
everyone acts like he’s going to get destroyed by the first sub’ist he fights..
we’ll see.. but i don’t think so..

“seperate “mosh pits” for drunken jackasses and fans who don’t understand grappling.” heh, I think that’s called YAMMA Pit Fighting.

I though the fight was great. Fightes are fighters, don’t matter where they come from or where they fight. Kimbo did his thing. Right now he’s the man.

its so much better without the regular announcers. more like professional fighting and less like pro wrestling.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Kimbo looked GOOD. Was in control the whole time, didn’t waste a lot of energy with wild looping punches. Everything was short and crisp. Guy has some serious power.
In my mind a much better showing than Lesnar, who just went in with about 150 wild hammerfists and couldn’t knock out a guy with a glass chin.
February 21st, 2008 at 5:41 pm
TANK LOOKED RUN DOWN AND OLD… I WANT TO SEE KIMBO AGAIN.. HE LOOKS LEGIT!
February 29th, 2008 at 5:02 am
I think KImBO & Brock Lestner Should fight
February 29th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
just wait till kimbo gets some legit fights, i think he will kick ass. Stupid tank fights drunk half the time and probobly would do worse if he didn’t. Hes old news and Kimbo would kick lesnars ass in my opinon. Lesnars a whole lotta muscle not any skill.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:29 pm
yall talkin like kimbo didnt just beat a fuckin mma legend
May 13th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Yeah, Kimbo is definatly a bad ass there is no denying that but i think tank has some balls honestly, i guarantee that everyone of ya’ll talking shit about kimbo wouldn’t fight him, so ya’ll should really stop bumping ya’lls gums and appreciate him for what he does. I think its gonna be a great fight between him and Chuck Liddell
May 27th, 2008 at 1:22 am
To whoever said Brock Lesner doesn’t have skills has no buisness watching MMA. Lesnar is a 2x heavy weight ncaa div 1 wrestling champion, YES there is only one a year in all of the United States of America, expect more is the future from that mutant. He will always have a bad matchup against black belt jujitsu fat boys, but when he learns and he will, watch out for the next “Coleman”, remember him. The guy that beat Lesnar in college is Steven Neil, who plays for the Steelers, and no he didn’t play college ball. he is pound for pound the most natural athletic freak in the world, (3x ncaa heavy weight champ wrestling) would dominate anyone in mma including R. Couture. Now thats who Elite Xc should be trying to pay off to fight to jump start there freak show.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Steven Neil, I haven’t heard that name in a while, dude that dude is bad ass. He would domnate any heavy weight, if I was show time I would definetly try to invest in him, he is a freak.

cyphron has obviously never took a hard punch in their life if they can’t grasp being stunned/dazed, not everyone falls straight to the ground, some try to keep their footing, and as you saw, Tank couldn’t do it. And damn Tank has let himself go since I last saw him in WCW.
