Let's not forget that Machida still is in a transition phase from TMA. Point sparring in shotokan probably does not deliver the knockout but he is precise. Also the team that is helping him apply more power to his technical style is very credible. Just look at the big hitters he trains with... Nogueira, Anderson Silva, I think Belfort is also in Chute Box (not sure on this one). the Rua brothers... When you have this kind of support, you will definitely evolve.

well, people are predicting Machida KO'ing Tito and IMO that's just ridiculous..

i mean.. Tito has:

gone three rounds with Patrick Cote.. a guy coming off of two first round TKO's.. and a guy that has more power than Machida.. Tito didn't get caught.. and he controlled the fight..

he has gone three rounds w/ Vitor Belfort..and no matter how washed up you may think he is [which, i don't] he still has devistating striking.. Tito didn't get caught.. and he controlled the fight..

he went the distance w/ Forrest... Forrest's got some nice power.. but he didn't catch Tito once..

he went three rounds w/ Evans.. and.. whether you think his striking is good or not.. he does have KO victories.. Tito didn't get caught.. then again.. Evans was dancing around like a moron not throwing punches.. IMO Evans could have finished that fight at any point if he wanted to..

he went the distance with Wandy.. i mean, there's barely any fights on his record that weren't KO's.. that says something..

the only man that could really HURT tito all these years.. aside from Frank Shamrock.. has been Chuck..

now, would you compare Machida's power to Chuck's??
i think not..

idk..

Machida COULD win.. but that's a huuuuuge "COULD"..
i could maybe see him winning via sub.. but not by TKO/KO..

but.. i really see Tito picking up the decision..

all i know.. is that Tito tired out mid 2nd round and 3rd round of the Evans fight.. he's just really lucky Evans would rather dance around than punch his opponent..
Machida WILL NOT do the same.. if Tito tires out in this fight.. all of his worst nightmares will come true..

otherwise.. i see him picking up the UD..

P.S.- i'm not doubting Machida... i'm just looking at the facts.. and thanks for taking my comment earlier logically instead of calling me stupid or something..

Machida is a good fighter, one of the best in that division, um, i personally dont think so... why because of his record(which is impressive) but look @ evans record, is he one of the best in the division too? hell he is fighting tito who hasnt beaten anyone really since shamrocks fairwell ufc tour..... and even then...? and no one really knows if machida is going to be able to own tito... most of us may want him too but is he going to be able to do it?? i hope that machida sends tito away with a loss personally, but is he one of the best @ LHW, im not so sold on that yet.......

Machida's stand-up isn't what he relies on to finish a fight though.

I don't think his Stand-Up is what allows him to be the fighter he is.

Rich,

Not a bad assessment. Maybe I should correct myself, his stand up is unreal. Whether or not that proves useful I guess is in question. I just like his overall skill compared to most fighters. I should have emphasized overall skill, not picking JJ or something else.

I just think it comes down to his style. He's not an exciting fighter. But he is an effective fighter and he gets wins. He does own wins over BJ Penn and Rich Franklin. Of course that's been a while, but his skill set is there. He's gonna be one of those fighters that you just can't look good against. I don't think anyone will duck him, but few probably want to fight him because they just might lose.

"Machida’s JJ and stand up are unreal"

i'll have to disagree JJG..

yes.. Machida performed greatly against Sokoudjou..

but what did he do before that??

decision, decision, decision..

yes.. his striking is technical.. but he doesn't do damage with it..

really.. before the fight with Sokoudjou.. we didn't even see his JJ..at least, not in the UFC..

all we've seen is good stand-up, that doesn't do a lot of damage.. and a bunch of lay and pray..

i'm not bashing Machida in any way.. i just think he gets a little too much credit.. and really.. before he beat Soku.. he didn't get any at all.. how does one fight instantly put you at one of the best LHW's in the world??

i've said this before..
i don't see how he couldn't finish the easiest of opponents.. but then he went on to choke out Soku.. it doesn't make sense to me.. i mean, if he's had some turn around.. and is now a fight finisher.. i'll start to like him a little bit more.. but, i've just never been a big fan..

don't flame me for this..
but it IS true.. he never really got credit before Soku..

and.. to let you know.. my opinions of him at this point.. are based on his UFC career..

Nice lineup. Props to Machida, who is without a doubt one of my favorites. I like guys with skill, as you all know. Meat heads can go fight in the parking lot and let the real guys battle it out. Machida's JJ and stand up are unreal.

Tito = moron at this point. I really think he is a joke for thinking he deserves any respect. I hope Machida sends him on his way so we don't have to look at his big head anymore.

Tito's girlfriend Jenna used to be hot, but not anymore. She also needs to go away. Her old stuff is damn good though!!! You can't get much better than Jenna in her prime! LOL.

My prediction: UFC network TV deal.

They have to counter EliteXC's deal with CBS. MMA on network TV without the UFC is bad business for them.
