I decided to watch Mrs. Coutures fight and might I just say, ‘Oh yeah That did wonders for womens mma’. Everytime Kim got hurt they had to ‘readjust the headgear’ then didn’t even announce the winner. I don’t know what I was thinking, you guys were soo right. I feel I would have missed out on a womens mma benchmark had I not tuned in. Thanks Sam.

I gotta agree with Tommy, that fight was a waste of time. Headgear? What a joke, if her last name wasn’t Couture this wouldn’t even have been smoker material.
It’s a smoker, not a fight. Smoker’s don’t have “winners” or “losers”.
Well you taught me something Luke. I was my first and last. Funny that hate can make you watch someone they same way admiration can. Though that doesn’t change the fact that she was helped by the ref, looked stupid and in no way did it help womens mma as suggested.

Luke, I have to correct you, some Smokers do have winners and losers. It depends on the school.
And HexRei, Smokers traditionally use headgear. The fights aren’t sanctioned by the commission. Technically they are glorified sparring matches, and as such safety precautions must be taken. If they didn’t use the headgear and shin pads, the Coutures could have been arrested.
Right, some call winners and losers, but since they don’t go on the record, they aren’t real wins or losses. Obviously if you get tapped you “lost”, but I get tapped in practice all the time and don’t consider those losses per se.
But I’ve been at some that also actually had judges as well.
But yes, Smokers don’t count on a won/loss record. They are exhibitions.
