First, the main event was great, and although that division doesn't get a lot of cred, I think it is stronger than people think. Silva, Hendo, Okami, Franklin, Marquardt (7 time king of pancrase--if you don't recognize the name), Fihlo (another name you should get to know if you don't--google him), Bisping just cut to 185, Leben could be really strong if he learned to throw straight punches and control is haymakers...he'd be like a 185 version of Chuck Liddell. This is a stronger division that people think...Anderson Silva is just a bad dude. I'm sure the Gracie family cheered like hell when a Greco Roman Olympic wrestler got choked out by a BJJ expert. I thought Herring and Kongo was good too...especially the second round. Herring performed some great transitions and Kongo escaped some close calls. Another strong 170 entered the pack as Chris Wilson gave Fitch a run for his money...and btw, Fitch would eat Koscheck right now. Although, I agree he couldn't go yard with GSP. Leben put on a banging show. I thought Sakara being a smart boxer would wait out his haymakers and pick him apart. It was awesome. I would have liked to seen a little mroe intensity from Evan Tanner who seemed nervous...but he held his own until a monster clinched knee from Okami. Great fight. my only compaint is Arlovski not being in the main card, not have a contract extension or new contract, and probably not seeing him again in the UFC for some time. Some fighters NEED to develop, you can't shove everyone into the fight of their life every single fight. Granted, the 5% that manage to come out of it uninjured every time will be far better, but the problem is you're literally wrecking the 95% of the guys you're paying big money to make better and pull you in more money. Have some of you guys ever actually fought MMA yourselves? No injury heals 100% and every one nags on you, over time the injuries fighters get make them far less of a fighter than they would have been if they got fed up more difficult fighters as they progressed. The UFC is trying to become a legitimate organization now, with a broad fighter base and decent cards all year long, some fights will be easy to call, and some won't be. The Fitch/Wilson fight pure and simple "stunk". He is a lonnnng way from being any title contender. Koschek would destroy him. Hughes would double him all night. A fight with Serra might be interesting ( he's history after GSP), but that doesn't mean much. GSP would beat him in every aspect. I've seen him fight in the past, but last night was like watching a local show. Maybe he was sick. Maybe his ears strarted to grow again during the fight. The card was borrrrring.
