Tito Ortiz: “I’m done with the UFC”

Here’s a video interview from HollyScoop.com with Tito Ortiz and his main squeeze Jenna Jameson where Tito talks about being done with the UFC and Dana White, says he’s changed his tune on Kimbo Slice, and would welcome a rematch with Frank Shamrock. Also, are we really calling them “Jennito” now?

dudes, they must have caught Tito coming out of the clubs b/c he’s under the influence of something in this clip. He flubs NBC, meaning CBS then goes down low for emphasis on Kimbo Slice.

Also, WTF is up with Jenna’s lip.

Hey Sam or any writer on here, does the UFC have the right to match any offer Tito gets? I think I read it somewhere.

The UFC never puts him on TV? Really? That’s funny… I thought he was on TUF 3. And wasn’t he one of the few fighters that got a percentage of PPV buys (other than Couture and Liddell)? I’m confused. What more could they have done?

He probably wanted a UFC All Access show focusing on him, but yeah, TUF 3 was pretty good exposure as well as the whole Shamrock ordeal.

I think after that he started feeling left out with all the Pride guys coming over and getting big contracts and hype. That time he approached Rashad while they were both in the audience . . . that seemed like a contrived altercation just to make himself relevant again.

    White Vs. Ortiz.

I would love to see that, maybe after Fedor Vs. White.

Legend, when I interviewed Tito for CBSSports.com last year, he indicated that the UFC holds a right of first refusal. If Ortiz is correct, he will only be a restricted free agent after the conclusion of the Machida fight on May 24.

What a joke. He’s no longer competitive in the UFC, he’s on his way out because of his unimpressive performances, and everybody knows it. Now he’s saying complimentary things about Kimbo and Frank Shamrock, not because he has any respect, but because those are the fighters or types of fighters waiting for him. By talking them up, he’s trying to make himself look better. Even Jenna had the common sense not to jump in and agree with him. She tried to downplay his schtick with a joke or two. One of the lessons from this video is never go on camera when you’re buzzed.

    first of all..

Frank Shamrock would be too much for Tito..
i think Shammy would control him more in a bout now-a-days than he did when they fought way back when.. it was slightly even when they fought.. man i loved that fight sooo much.. it was just sooooo great.. anyways.. with the way Tito’s been performing lately.. i don’t think he would last against Shammy.. it would have the same ending as the first fight.. only.. he would be too hurt to tap..

There’s been about 5 minutes in the past… what, 5 years that make me think Tito is any sort of credible threat to a top 10 fighter and that was the first round of his fight with Griffin.

Any other time I’ve seen him, he’s beating up 40-year old men, getting beaten up by 40-year old men or getting outhustled by the new faces of this sport.

Funny how watching an interview with a guy changes your opinion on him. All of the sudden Kimbo is a great guy, even named their dog after him. How cute. I suppose Tito considers himself a “well rounded fighter”…maybe should think of a matchup with Slice. Would love to see Kimbo knock his head off, and have it fly into Skeletor’s (AKA Jenna) lap.

Tito is basically a fighter of the past, but his personality is good for the sport.

And I wouldn’t kick Jenna out of bed for eating crackers!

……and his one-dimensional style is at least a good measuring stick for contenders… There should be a rule that if you can’t beat Tito, you don’t get a title shot (for at least 4 years). Something like that.

Sam, I won’t be able to view this today. Do they say Jennito in the clip or did you just mention it at the end of the article?

If so, I would like to take full credit for coming up with the now famed “Jennito”. MMAJunkie had a contest where if you came up with a nickname for those two and won, you’d get an MMAJunkie t-shirt. Well, I got the most votes by other posters but never heard from Junkie or got a much wanted t-shirt of their’s.

However, I glad to see the name still get’s around. Plus, it’s better than Skeletor. That’s just downright bogus, funny, but still bogus.

    Cheers!!!

Sam, you remember that time, i think it was one of Morgan’s posts.. but JJG was flipping out on you, for what Morgan actually wrote??

i think that was the scenario.. either way, i was laughing so hard.

is it so hard to look under the title to see the author?

    lol.

You know the UFC may start having a problem here. It’s no secret that some of the established guys are not happy with the treatment that the “TUF generation” is receiving. These guys may not do that much for the UFC now, but they can do a lot for the other orgs. Randy, Tito, Arlovski, if they sign with one of the other orgs, people are going to start tuning in. I think the UFC should be very careful who they alienate. The same thing happened to the WWF. Before they knew it WCW was ahead of them in the ratings and had most of their former stars including the Hulk. Of course the WWE bounced back and WCW is no more. But it was a painful lesson in writing off the competition just because you are the biggest kid on the block.

  • Rabid Wolverine says:

I agree with Jackyl’s post (#24). I’m sick of hearing Dana White s**t on the fighters and personalities that built the UFC to where it is now. Dana did a lot, but without Tito, without Chuck, without Randy, without Andrei, this thing of ours wouldn’t be where it is today. I’ve been loyal to the UFC, but if you’re going to s**t on your soldiers…UFC…Dana…you might want to think about how everyone else is going to view that and that maybe even though the money isn’t better elsewhere, the respect you’ll feel is worth it. The UFC needs to start treating its fighters like members of a family instead of servants.

Wow……..why is everyone hating on Tito?

People saying he sucks….he’s washed up….and all the above. If you were a true MMA’er you would know that Tito has only lost 3 out of the last 15 fights. Once to Randy Couture and twice to Chuck Liddell. I just don’t get it. The guy has beaten people like Evan Tanner, Vitor Belfort, Patrick Cote, and Forrest Griffin.

He’s not my favorite fighter but the dude is 5-1-1 in his last 7 fights. And he sucks? I don’t think so. Losing 3 fights to the top 2 fighters in teh UFC at the time aint that bad when its your only losses in 15 fights.

“The guy has beaten people like Evan Tanner, Vitor Belfort, Patrick Cote, and Forrest Griffin.”

Evan Tanner fights, and probably always should have fought, at 185.

    Belfort? Please.

Cote? I would HOPE Tito beats him, Jesus Christ. Tito’s a former World Champion for God’s sake.

And as for Griffin? Like I said, the best I’ve seen Tito in years was the first round of his fight with Forrest. He looked like the Tito of old. Getting take downs, raining down elbows, causing damage. After that… nothing.

This video just goes to show you how stupid Jenna really is each & everytime she opens her mouth. She should just stay quiet & keep her mouth full w/another man’s meat in it. Tito acts likes he’s got quite a catch w/Jenna, but fact is every other guy has had a catch w/her. I just couldn’t be w/a chic who goes to wk & gets her face creamed by every other man, then comes home to kiss me on the lips. Oh well…they deserve each other.

    #30…
frank also fought Baroni with two torn ACL’s i believe.. he couldn’t even walk out on his own.. he had to have his corner carry him to the back.. that probably played a part in the exhaustion..

    __________-

“Evan Tanner fights, and probably always should have fought, at 185.”

whether he was fighting at LHW or not doesn’t have anything to do w/ why he lost.. Tito got lucky.. and the angle of the takedown KO’d Tanner.. i’m suprised there was never a rematch..

    “Belfort? Please.”
Belfort’s a good fighter, bro.. he had Tito hurt a few times.. he just gassed late in the fight.

  • Sergio says:

I love Tanner but to say him fighting at 205 didn’t have anything to do with his loss to Ortiz isn’t entirely true. The main reason Ortiz got that monster takedown/slam was because he’s a physically bigger person than Tanner and much, much stronger.

And sorry, I can’t agree with you on Belfort. I don’t think he’s a good fighter. He’s a mediocre fighter with several stints of him being good and just a few flashes of being brilliant. Beyond that, he’s been taken to town every time he steps into the cage/ring with a Top 10 fighter save for his fight with Wand almost 10 YEARS AGO.

But shit, that KO was pretty nasty. Even to this day, people still talk about “old Vitor” because of it.
