He got elbowed three times in the back of the head, kept standing until the referee came in and broke them apart and then he fell to his knees. He couldn't continue? Give me a break, he was able to continue. I can't believe him for taking the easy route out of this fight because the elbows were really really bad but own up to it. Don't say you can't continue, say you don't want to. This fight should have been a NC

intentional or not, Malaipet needs to spend some time getting better aquainted with the mma rulebook. right before the illegal elbows, he also threw and landed a knee to the head while denny was down. i don't know what sport Malaipet thought he was fighting, but he damn well better learn the unified rules of mma.

"3 direct elbow strikes to the back of the head. It was nasty and intentional."

Eh? I wouldn't say that they were intentional. Plus, I thought Denny was babying the blows to the back of the head. I'm not being biased here, but Denny stated that he wasn't able to move his neck, But after the fight he was bumping into people, turning his head left and right and hugging his team members. It looked like he was wanting to get out of the fight. Denny Def. dominated the first round of the fight, but I was hoping he would have taken the 5 minutes and then proceded with the fight.

Malaipet will do a rematch only if Denny drops down to 150 and takes the fight. Malaipet needs to work on his ground game with a good camp. He needs to understand the game better. I thought that it was a great fight for Denny. I think there should be a rematch.

Any post fight info on Denny's condition? When the doctor was talking to him in the ring, he was responsive and didn't seem disoriented. He was real quick to say that he couldn't continue, so I wondered if he had some injury as a result of the elbows.

Malaipet was definitely frustrated although I agree he was probably in survival mode since he had nearly been finished three times. The guy's got heart, you have to give him that. He just doesn't have a firm grasp on a few important aspects of the game. Can you believe that Denny had him in full mount and he never bucked his hips once? He's lucky he didn't get armbarred, cuz he probably wouldn't have tapped and then - pop pop pop.

Not a bad show, but the DQ definitely took the luster off of it. I do believe the elbows were more instinct than intent, but control is a vital part of mma. I would be interested in a rematch and it definitely should be on a EXC undercard.

On a side note, fans booing injuries, no matter the sport, makes my stomach turn.
