anderson wants this, why would it be under mma rules. if silva wants to put the gloves on and fight under boxing rules then that would be more of a boxing commision decision. wouldnt they have the say over all the logistics and demands . dana would have no say and that will never happen.

its time for the ufc to pay its fighters the right way.other wise theyll just do boxing or transfer to other mma promotion.Dana is a damm good marketing man for ufc to reach this magnitude but he has to back it up already..,manny pacquiao is a 130lbs boxer from the philippines(not u.s) and he got paid 5million dollars for his bout against marquez plus addtional ppv(around3M).and Heavy weight randy coutoure got paid 250T plus bonuses in his last ufc bout comon Dana.we all know that tysons opponent peter mc neily got a million(back in 96) to get kod in one round.
and all these fine mma athletes train more than boxers.they should be compensated more at the very least equal...its time to walk the walk. Dana.

as a fan of both boxing and mma im sick and tired of hearing Dana talk that boxing is dead over and over again.and yet he has failed to deliver! stop paying new comers like brock lesner tons of cash and stop spending over the top for production. and spend more money for the fighters!!the most important expense.

it all boils down that anderson is a professional. and he wants what everybody wants.money.its not bad.its reality.he has to think about the future for him and his family.and he's the best pound for pound in mma already but he gets paid peanuts compared to boxers. 200 T plus bonuses? too low.and him and all mma fighters had faith that dana and the ufc.would be getting "dying"sport of boxings---money.but as a good car salesman dana fails to deliver.so i think it would be good to fight jones.. jones got paid minimum 2M plus ppv to fight trinidad. give silva the money he deserves.

It's all just hype. What a way to get Silva's name out in the boxing and mma media?

Sounds like marketing for Silva to be honest.

YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND mjc ... just like Ian #3 said

Dana WON'T let this happen
AND
this is a lose / lose for Anderson/MMA ... if he beats Roy at a staight-up boxing match(which he won't) he only win's a small amount (ie: Roy is past his prime)
if Anderson Loses ... OMG, mma will never hear the end of it from "boxing' crowd

IT WON'T HAPPEN

I'd just run like hell after the race if I t-boned Silva's car during the classic 40 plus car pile ups! You know it'd be coming, the where and when to be determined by Anderson Silva's twitchy round house kick.

#8 JohnnyRev, what kind of "clinches" and "tie ups" would benefit Silva in a boxing match? are you talking about the John Ruiz method of "clinches"? He is the master of the clinch (he sucks) and I didn't see him "clinching" Jones a whole hell of alot in that fight. And isn't he bigger and stronger than Jones? Granted Ruiz is quite a bit dumber than Silva but c'mon! There is no Muay Thai clinch in boxing! no holding and hitting in boxing (I believe they call it "dirty boxing" in MMA). Let's not forget Jones wears huge padded boxing gloves and Silva wears little 4oz. gloves (In MMA). Silva's punch would be much different with boxing gloves on.

In my opinion, and I respect yours, Jones would stop Silva inside of 7.

bloodyelbow.com found a line for a potential Jones Jr/Silva fight on Bodog.

Jones Jr. -2800
Silva +1400

The line states the fight has to happen by the end of 2008, under boxing rules, max bet $100.

The line is huge because part of what you are betting on is if the fight happens at all, if you knock off a zero from both they aren't as bad as what I thought they'd be, but that's my .02.
