I'm not defending the means, but I believe his intentions are, at the least, partially noble. I for one don't believe any ONE promotion should be able to exclusively control anyones ENTIRE income. Part of the argument is over the fact that his name is in HIS brand, "Extreme Couture." What the UFC is trying to do would not allow fighters from Randy Couture's camp to say that they are from Randy Couture's camp. Screw that, I'd fight too. Even if I knew I was going to lose. It's about the principle. They have already pressured him to change the team name in the IFL to Team Tompkins. He's being hard-headed; all he had to do was fight Nogueira and one other fighter and he could have left on his own terms and fought Fedor wherever he wanted, but now it's going to be tied up in court for who knows how long. If he would have never disputed it in the first place, he'd be damn close to being able to fight him by now.
