Stann the man! Thanks for getting rid of Dougy Marshmellow!!

I’ve enjoyed watching Brian Stann fight and his journey to get to this point. My respect for him as a person dwarfs his MMA accomplishments.

Stann the mann backed up his few words with a hook that hit Marshall like a block of concrete. To answer the above question about Stann and Kimbo, from my perspective, some people love Stann over Kimbo, because Kimbo was a thug first and is all about self-promotion. Stann is a soldier first and is all about freedom and America, far bigger than Kimbo’s universe. Stann represents an icon all of America can support. Kimbo is an icon of back yard brawls. There are many who do not respect that dark side of life. What’s not to repect about a man who has been to battle and taken bullets for my freedom.

it was a good show i enjoyed the hell out of it, free MMA com’on….
i really would have seen Larson v Allessio, instead of the first match that really was a bad match~up….. but other than that Sonnen needs to stop leaving his arm out there and his neck down or he is going to get that thing snapped off one day but he dominated that kid, Soonen he s a pretty bad dude when Filho gets his collective shit together it will be a good rematch…
Hicks is a bad little man he likes to choke people and he hits very hard i was impressed with his controled aggression
Gomez was kinda a let down but the fight was really good on sub attempts to countering to illegal blows (the cut in the back of Gomez s head, but he turned that way though), it was a technical fight and fun to watch..
Rhino tuck your damn chin kid, Stann caught that chin flush, good exchange then boom you got kd’ congrats to the mean military guy, thx for your service…..
good fights though very good fights, fight of the night Gomez v Crunkilton imo

Sonnen’s loss to Filho by arm bar was fortunate for Filho. Until that point Sonnen was manhandling him. Filho won, but only because Sonnen made a mistake, and I’ll bet he doesn’t do it again. He wasn’t leaving his arms or hands on the mat last night.

no disrespect instended, but i wasn’t as impressed with sonnen as some other folks. he definitely dominated the entire fight, but i thought that was more a result of baker’s youth/inexperience. he didn’t seem to have the power to finish baker (unless his head is made of cinder blocks), and i think a more skilled fighter would have caught him in a submission (like the infamous arm bar from his last fight). hopefully filho gets healthy, and we see a competitive rematch.

Great show! I think we all knew the Stann/Marshall fight was not going to be a technical JJ match Both guys were gonna throw and it was all about who landed the better strikes and who had the tougher chin. Just throwing this out there….why does everyone love Stann but bash Kimbo?

The Gomez/Crunkilton fight was amazing. Gomez is a man for sure..tough loss.

Chael Sonnen can compete with any 185 lber in the world IMO.

Sonnen’s win was one of the most dominant performances in recent memory. He ran a grappling clinic on Baker. I’m really looking forward to his rematch with Filho.

The Stann/Marshall fight wasn’t technical or pretty, but it sure was cool.

Fight of the night had to be Crunkilton/Gomez.

What a great card.

also, I’ve seen a few jokes about the Caplan curse, but what about the Trigg curse? He also picked hendo over Silva, and his recent mmajunkie article was all about how Baker was being overlooked and this could be fight of the year. Did he mean one-sided ass whipping?

the WEC almost always delivers, and I wasn’t let down by tonite. the exchange to end the stann/rhino fight was an instant highlight reel.

crunkilton/gomez, and marshall/stann, were both GREAT fights. gomez reminds me of clay guida in a way. tough guy, who always puts on a good show, just can’t catch a win lately.

and stann… damn. ridiculous power, and a pretty solid chin. marshall looked a bit nervous as well. i suppose i’d be the same, with that size disadvantage. stann is a beast.

at least we won’t have to hear “k.d.” for a while.

i don’t see him having much trouble with cantwell, if they make that his first title defense, though i’d like to see him tested by someone who’ll take it to the ground.

and i guess they teased varner/hicks as the next lightweight title fight. should be another slugfest.
