Strikeforce on NBC debuts tomorrow

April 11, 2008 by Sam Caplan

I wanted to remind everyone that “Strikeforce on NBC” debuts Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2 a.m. ET in most markets. It will be airing earlier and later in select cities so make sure you check your local listings.

A lot of people are complaining about the time of the show, but if you have DVR, it doesn’t really matter. Support MMA on network TV.

Tomorrow’s premiere will feature matches between current Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le taking on Brian Warren as well as Duane “Bang” Ludwig scaring off with Tony Fryklund.

Here’s a quick video preview of “Strikeforce on NBC”:

For those in the NYC area…

The Strikeforce broadcast on NBC is scheduled for 3:02 AM late Sat night/Sun morning after Poker After Dark.

And, to burst some of your bubbles… FYI, the program is only 28 minutes long.

    That is an awful voiceover…

Strikeforce is getting boned. Sure, it’s network TV, but the deal seems to allow local affiliates to bump the show for their own syndicated shows. In my area Strikeforce doesn’t even begin until 4am, and it follows two crappy entertainment shows.

i’ve been up waiting for this stupid show. On the cable guide, it shows up as starting at 2:30AM but a show about Wine started instead.
    What bs.

    COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME
30 MINUTES AT 3AM AFTER SOME POKER SHOW?
AFTER THE COMMERCIALS IT WAS ABOUT 18 MIN OF ACTUAL ACTION
NICE TRY, 30 MIN AT 3AM DOES NOTHING POSITIVE FOR THE SPORT NO MATTER WHAT NETWORK IT’S ON

wow , that really wasnt interesting stayed up til 3 to hear 2mins from Cung, watch his fight got to hear Ken Shammy talk, best part was Bangs fight, atleast i didnt have to watch yamma, o and the Strikeforce show is basically UFC’s Wired, yet not as long but basically the principle…..

Jeff, from one Stern fan to another, please, no more caps. Thanks.

sorry about the caps sam, should have known better.
was just really disapointed with the way the show was presented by NBC.
when it was first announced i was under the impression that it would be right after SNL, which would be the best possible lead in for late saturday night. but unfortunately that was not the case, at least in the NY market.
it was 2 hrs after SNL and the lead in was a 1 hr poker show. i’ve only been an MMA fan for 2 yrs, but am very passionate about it and want to see it succeed and become accepted as a legitimate sport. burying strikeforce in a 3AM time slot on a major network is not that postitve for MMA, just another reason for the detractors to try to discredit the sport. i just hope elitexc is able to capitalize on “saturday night fights” and show the average viewer what MMA is all about.

They gotta advertise this better. No way I stay up/get up for it, but I’d record it. Couldn’t find it on my cable guide even though I looked.

Yes it s really late. I s hard for an avarage working joe to stay that late at 2 to 3 AM. It s a dissapointed for a new fan like me.
