RE: Accepted/Approved MMA records
DATE: April 15, 2008

Just to bring everyone up to date, the Search Committee has finalized
the process and Mixed Martial Arts, LLC has been selected as the
"Certified Record Keeper for MMA". Currently our President has signed a
memorandum of understanding with MMA, LLC and contract negotiations have
begun.

A temporary agreement with MMA, LLC has been reached and they are
accepting bout results and past records that you might have in your
office to be included in the database. The committee is currently
putting the final touches on an "Application for National ID Card" form
that will become a part of the process for identifying a contestant with
their record along the same lines as Fight Fax, in addition to a
standard "Bout Results Form". You will receive further updates as the
committee progresses.

After a lot of discussion between committee members, it was the
final/unanimous decision that no records will be included in the
database from events not supervised by a recognized ABC member
commission in good standing. This will eliminate unverified results form
promoters that have what are commonly referred to by the media and
politicians as "brawls or human cock fights" that include every
violation that you can imagine in states that do not regulate MMA.

For clarification, if a state or tribal commission regulates
professional MMA, but doesn't regulate amateur MMA events. Only the
professional results will be submitted and included in the data base.
For state and tribal commissions that regulate both amateur and
professional MMA events, both results will be submitted and included in
the data base. For state and tribal commissions that do not regulate
either professional or amateur MMA, those results will not be considered
unless the non-regulating commission contracts with an ABC member
commission in good standing to supervise/regulate the event. Then and
only then will those results be submitted and included in the data base.

We have already had promoters who operate outside of the law contacting
us and wanting to know how to get their event results into the new data
base? We have been advising them to start holding events in states or on
tribal land that regulate MMA. Bottom line is; the only results that
should be submitted and accepted for the data base are from ABC member
commissions in good standing that regulate/supervise events by statute
or contract.

We feel that it was important for everyone to be on the same page when
it comes to regulation and submission of verified bout results to the
data base. As the committee moves forward towards getting all of the
pieces in place, you will receive updates from time to time.

Matt, will do. I will be on the lookout for more upcoming info when it comes to local tri-State events. If there are any promoters out there reading this, feel free to e-mail me at SCaplan at comcast dot net and I will make sure the word gets out about your event.

Sam, as someone who lives in Jersey, I really do appreciate you covering MMA in the area, but I do have a request, can you also post about upcoming events so readers can see these events?
