I really grew to like Matt on TUF. He’s funny, seems to really care about the fighters, and is down to earth.
That being said, why would we not overlook him? His shot at the title was one of the least deserved in recent memory at any weight class. Matt has skills, but in my opinion if he and GSP fought 10 times, we’ve seen the one victory in 10 he’d be able to grab.
I haven’t been this un-enthused about a main event since Bisping/Rashad. GSP by destruction.
Seriously though the reason we over look him is because he is not a legit champ. He did not earn his title shot. He did not fight top rated contenders to get his shot, he fought has-beens. He got lucky. Lucky he won a contest to fight the best fighter in his weight class and lucky that GSP wasn’t 100% when he fought. If he wins this fight then maybe I’ll call him a champ. Maybe.

Belts do not make champions.

The only reason he feels overlooked is because he’s two feet tall.
Am I missing something here?
