Report: Trigg vs. Souza at DREAM 2

DREAM has announced additional matchups for its much-anticipated middleweight Grand Prix on April 29 in Saitama, Japan, according to MMA Japan, a blog that focuses on Japanese-related MMA.

One of the more intriguing matchups reported by MMA Japan is a proposed bout between Frank Trigg and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Other matchups reportedly announced include Ikuhisa “Minowa-Man” Minowa vs. Taiei Kin; Zelg Galesic vs. Magomed Sultanakhmadov; and Shungo Oyama vs. Yoon Dong Sik.

Previously announced matchups for the middleweight Grand Prix include Denis Kang vs. Gegard Mousasi, Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Andrews Nakahara, and Masakatsu Fuanki vs. Kiyoshi Tamura.

The show will be headlined by a non-middleweight GP tournament match between Shinya Aoki and Gesias Calvancante. The two fought each other on the inaugural DREAM card in February in the first round of the promotion’s lightweight Grand Prix.

Neither Aoki or Calvancante advanced to the second round after the bout was ruled a no contest. It’s uncertain whether the winner of the rematch will advance to the second round of the lightweight Grand Prix, which will be held two weeks after DREAM 2 on April 29.

Wow, I thought the only cardio Frank Trigg did now was running his mouth. I hope it helps defend that rear naked choke. :P

Trigg just said on his radio show that this is a complete lie and was 100% not happening. Some things never change in Japan.

Yup, he also posted about it on the UG. Good to see that DREAM is continuing in the Pride tradition of announcing fights that aren’t going to happen. Whatever.

This Card is 10 times better than UFC 83.
“Some things never change in Japan”.
And how many times have the UFC said “…this is for a title shot…” and it wasn’t or “…this fight is going to happen…” and it hasn’t or “…we are going to sign this person…” and they havn’t…all the time.

WTF does any of that have to do with Japanese orgs continually lying about matches that aren’t going to happen on their cards? Seriously dude, pull your head out of your ass.

As an aside, name one match that the UFC has promoted that turned out to be a complete fabrication.
