I disagree with you Adam.

He let his hands and feet fly in the 2nd Hughes fight and had no problems being taken down. I think it has more to do with the fact that he was considering trying out for the Olympics. He has just been doing more wrestling lately.

I can’t believe we’re even talking about this. it’s like discussing the possibility of
of the sun not coming up tomorrow.
I like Matt Serra alot. he’s good for the UFC, MMA and he’s a straight talking regular guy from Long Island that’s earned his bones. He’s great.
That being said, almost everyone considers GSP a gifted athlete and MMA fighter if not a prodigy. And Matt Serra? most would say he’s a hard working dedicated disciplined talented BJJ guy and MMA fighter, kind of like a Pete Rose of MMA.
So MOST of the time what happens when good talented people compete against prodigies or extraordinary examples of themselves?
I mean come on, we already saw the freak upset, the one outta 10, statistical aberration with these 2 guys. You ain’t gonna see Haley’s comet twice in your lifetime.The odds are against it.

…… of course the odds of us even being here to have this discussion
(beating all the other “swimmers” to the egg) are pretty mind boggling, but ……nah.

Serra has a big mouth that’s about to be permanently shut tonight. He is all talk, and little action. He got lucky last time and yes thats the way it goes. Any decent fighter would have capitalized on that. Good for him. Tonights a different story though. He’s not that good of a fighter, he rushes in too much and all he has is his jiu jitsu. St. Pierre is an extremely well rounded fighter, with excellent take down defence. Serra should have stayed injured.

I normally HATE typical meathead New Yorkers, but I love Serra. Also love GSP, which is like being a fan of both the Yankees and the Red Sox. OK, it’s like being a fan of the Yankees and the Toledo Mud Hens the day after Toledo beats the Yankees in an exhibition game, but still… Afraid Serra’s gonna be eating a LOT of words in about 11 hours from now.

perfect statement Adam, you have to adapt to your opponents gameplan, and beat them at their own game, and that is exactly what gsp has done, but how good is his jiu jitsu????? I know serra beat him at stand up the last time, but lets really face it, serra’s strongest aspect is his jiu jitsu or am i wrong????? as long as gsp keeps his distance i think he can beat serra at stand up and probably pick him apart, but on the other hand serra is a bull dog and i think he will rush “rush” and close the distance to much of our dismay,,,, tough for to call as far as on paper but i am going to say GSP
