5 Oz. of Pain Prospect Jon Murphy seeking sponsors

One of the coolest things to happen to FiveOuncesOfPain.com in the last year is that we’ve gained acceptance from a lot of fighters. We know for a fact that a lot of fighters check out this site because some have not only commented publicly, but we have heard from them privately.

One of the biggest thrills we’ve gotten was when Tito Ortiz was talking to Mauro Ranallo on Fight Network Radio and referenced something he read here.

We continue to get support from fighters and one of our biggest supporters has been Jon Murphy, who was a favorite of this site before we even knew he knew who we were.

Jon was a scholarship football player at the University of Syracuse on the same team as Donovan McNabb. He’s without question one of the most athletic heavyweights around and his upside potential is why we chose him for our prospects section. Not to mention, he’s just an all-around good guy who is involved with the sport for all of the right reasons.

After battling a shoulder problem, Murphy is set to return to action for the first time since knocking out Dave Huckaba at an ShoXC event last August during EliteXC’s first-ever CBS telecast on May 31. On that show, Jon will be taking on another FiveOuncesOfPain.com heavyweight prospect, Brett Rogers.

The fight has been scheduled for the main card and will be shown on CBS, time permitting. But with some early finishes in store for the other fights, I’d say Jon’s chances of making the telecast are pretty good. Regardless, there’s going to be a very large crowd on hand at the Prudential Center to witness the historic show.

The reason why I am putting this message up is because Jon and his crew have supported this site in various ways and we want to return the favor. If you have your own business and are interested in potentially getting it some exposure on primetime network television, please get in touch with Ed Hsu, Jon’s sponsorship representative, at ecfights@gmail.com or 215-279-9061.
