The following picks were odd to me:

1.6- Frank Shamrock- with a broken arm and maybe ego, I wouldn't take Frank until the 4-5 rounds.

2.3- Anderson Silva- he should be in the top 5, not number 9. Casual fans know that he is the guy that destroyed Franklin, and has drawing power.

2.4- Randy Couture- He only has a couple fights left.

I can't believe KIMBO was not in the first round picks. This guy is an animal. Punches have no effect on him. Now of course where still all waiting to see how he does on the mat with one of the Legendary Grapplers.....that's if the fight last that long and he doesn't knock'em out

Fight Fan - Hilarious! Other actors like the kid who plays Harry Potter or Kimbo. Awesome lead in to the Kimbo insult.

Seriously, this is one of the best posts I've seen in a long time. I want to see the following rounds of this draft.

Keep it going boys!

My first 2 picks would be Brad Pitt and George Cloney. That would bring the crowd in. After all its not just about fighting its also about entertainment . I'll have to nurse them through their first few fights...ya know cause they're new. I'll give them some old has beens to fight and some sh*t fighters that arn't to proud to take a dive or under perform. I might try and get my hands on some other actors like the kid who plays Harry Potter or Kimbo.

It's all part of the master plan. First I pick two outrageous picks so you know I'm not Sam Caplan. Then I use my two picks in a row to pick the most exciting match-ups.

In regards to Tito/Shamrock as my first two picks, I think it really is the biggest main event any of us six could do considering how everyones split up the major talent. As in I'm sure everyone would love Randy vs. Fedor or Randy vs. Brock Lesnar but Ram took Randy and Caplan took Lesnar and Fedor.

Also, if anyone has a great idea for the name of my organisation, then feel free to post in the comments section. I was thinking I'MNOTSAMMA.

wanted to add i feel forrest/liddel, lesnar/fedor, and tito shamrock are good picks because they have a built in fight that everyone will watch (lesnor after some feeding) buuut tito/shamrock doesnt really have a longevity factor i like in the other picks forrest and lesnar will be around a long time whereas tito and shamrock are getting old. overall despite my earlier comment i think gsp/kimbo is in the lead purley based on money coming in right away with two potential big fights providing some comp is drafted. you should draft more ww and heavyweights/ light heavy to fight these guys and forget the other weight classes. if the silva/penn picker can grab some other great talent in these weight classes im liking it too. cotoure rampage meh you cant really mess up that bad in the first two picks you could have come out with serra and franklin and your org is still not that bad

Kinda weird but me and 3 other friends already did this exact same thing....but only 4 of our own promotions as opposed to 6...

still, great idea obviously...

Not quite as interesting as the NFL draft but I'll be following and tell you guys who's roster comes out best...

After two rounds apparently only Cava knows what the hell he is doing, Ram and Huck are hangin around, the two Sams have completely blown it as has Morgan who I would expect better from, but still plenty of rounds to go...

Great idea folks!

Nick, you obviously don't know a single pot smoker, or have even met one. I don't know many stoners who have such a good understanding of the demographics of the North American audience. Canada's full of hardcore fans. We got a long history of martial arts here, and people tune in for great fighters, and GSP's the best for firmly grabbing the up north crowd (it ain't much, I know, but it is a market). GSP's also great for grabbing the hardcores in the US. But raggin on the Kimbo pick? Come one, you may hate him, but don't come off as stupid to boot. There's millions out there who'll pay to see Kimbo, because you had Youtube doing free promotion. I don't know if he's got any ground game, but if it's half decent, Morgan's got a great first two picks. Kimbo's a bit of a gamble, but GSP sews it up nicely. Kimbo's there to grab immediate viewers. Who knows if he's got the ground game in him to hold them?

Really neat idea, jealous I never thought of it myself. Few observations.....
Sam Cupitt is an abvious old-head. Step into the 21st century sam.
Caplin seems to have the right idea with the HWs, but Brock FN Lesnar?
Cava seems to be the only one drafting for the best fights. Nice picks.
Ram, you will be lucky if Randy can announce a fight with his own teeth by the time Zuffa lets him out of his contract.
Huck, Your picks are solid, but no sexy picks in the first two rounds with all of these fighters available?
Adam Morgan...obvious Pot Smoker. Kimbo Slice?? Take another hit off your bowl Adam.

I love the concept of such a draft, I like the different approaches and of course disagree with several picks.

Brock and Fedor are 2 good picks IMO as Brock is a draw but a risk and Fedor is not a huge draw but little to no risk as he's going to be great and will gain popularity so even if Brock falters, Fedor will be a known commodity by the time that happens to Brock.

that said, how can you beat the first 2 picks by Matt Cava of BJ Penn and Anderson Silva. Two of the top 4 p4p fighters in the world (Fedor and GSP being the other two) in the same org?!!?
compared to everyone else he's ahead of the race for best Org already IMO.
and BJ can promote a fight as well as anyone.. just look at his comments about Sean 'the cheater' Sherk and his buring desire to rematch GSP.
A Silva has proven you don't have to speak english that well to be admired by North American fans, you just have to rip through all of your opponents in devestating fashion.

one or two more solid picks by Matt and we have our UFC of the 6 orgs :-)

p.s. keep it up guys, ignore the haters..

Hey, I'm not agreeing with all those picks, but everyone has justified them quite well.
So far, I'm thinking Ram is going to have the best show.

I also think Morgan is going to do quite well.

Huck has Griffin and Liddell. I'm still undecided on those picks. Chuck is a huge draw right now, and if Forrest continues to develop at the same pace he has been recently, you could have the makings of a great MMA Promotion.

Cava with Penn and Silva. Although the show may go under in a week due to no casual viewership, so far it's the most respectable of the shows on here.

As for the others...

Fedor and Brock? Caplan, what are you thinking? I can understand having Lesnar as a big draw factor, but I'd have gone with Couture. He's got the name recognition and appeal that I doubt Fedor will ever have in North America. The Last Emperor is too much of a robot in the ring and out of it.

Shamrock and Ortiz? I don't think an organization needs two promoters. I also think dealing with their combined management and egos will make dealing with Fedor's representation look easy.

Alright, this is very interesting. I am ready for round three of the draft. And if I may input my opinion; you are overlooking the 155lbs divison. BJ was the only one I noticed and they are imo the most exciting to watch. Their matches are always non stop action. Huerta comes to mind as far as marketing, good looks, etc. Just my thoughts. Ready for round three of the picks!
