GSP got by BJ, he still has to fight Thaigo Alves before this could happen. Even if it does there are weight class for a reason. Anderson will beat him to death. Same way BJ should stay in his weight, GSP needs to stay at his. Problem for Dana is there is no pay-per0view at either weight class right now. He is running out of headline fighters

sorry guys, i just had a thought, why not go back too old style UFC. Dana i hate too say it but it would be the only way too see who would be the best pound for pound. And for all you panty wastes,get over it, when you fight you fight to win, we have all seen it before and we should be able too see it again.Don’t get me wrong, there are certain things you can’t do an the fighters know this,but DANA WHITE you know this would be the biggest money maker yet,anyway think about it ,lots of you will agree with me and lets see what happens,FID OUT…………………

I agree with mah mah. St.Pierre should dominate an take care of buisiness. But i have been wrong before, but who cares who wins this would be the fight of the decade, forget those other bums///// BJPenn ?too much hate,fights with his heart not his head, too bad though he is a really good fighter,either way both gsp@silva would destroy him.., FID OUT………..

I think there isnt that much of a size difference since GSP walks around about 190 and i dont know what Silva walks around at but hes fought at 170 bfore so it cant be to much higher than that

I like the catch weight idea since no belts are exchanged

GSP vs- Silva @ 195(GSP is 193-196lbs/spider is 208-214)

so its both good for the fans and as a 1 time superfight attraction it brings some nice publicity for the UFC and could probably sell out a large 40,000 +capacity stadium if complemented by a few solid big name matchups maybe include Chuck or Brock+ a few popular lightweights like BJ/ Tyson Griffin/Huerta/ and maybe 1 big LHW match like Thiago Silva v- Wanderlei/Jardine

maybe an August show or a late September show?

Silva is a horrible match-up for GSP because Silva is much too big for him. GSP is 5’9″ and Silva is 6’3.” If GSP was hit by Silva, he would feel like he was hit by a Mac Truck. Silva walked through Franklin and Dan Henderson – two very tough and very big fighters. No disrespect to GSP: pound for pound he is the best fighter in MMA today, but he should not go up in weight because his frame is too small. Silva at 205 is a bad idea for the same reason: his frame is too thin. Liddell’s wrists are the size of Silva’s thighs.

I don’t think Silva could fight at a lighter weight either. He looks like skin and bones as it is, with a pair of chicken legs that look like they can barely hold him up. If he loses 10 pounds, he will disappear. The fight is not a good idea. Let GSP be champion at 170 and Silva at 185. There should be plenty of competition at both weights to keep both fighters busy.

Silva is considerably talller, but prior to losing to Serra, GSP told me he would challenge the middleweight champion if he were able to clean out the 170 lb division…presently that means Fitch and possibly Sanchez…and don’t forget a certain Hawaiian lightweight looking for welterweight revenge. A lot of things would have to fall in place for this to happen. But hey that’s what fantasy matchmaking is all about!

Speaking of challenges to Silva, I think Nate Marquardt is probably, right now, his biggest threat in the division. Sure, he’s beaten him already, but Nate is extremely talented and athletic in his own right. Think he got psyched out a little in their first fight and would do much better a second time around. And he’s a way better all around fighter than Franklin, who I’d love to see him matched up with. Nate’s got to beat Franklin or Hendo before he’ll even be considered as rematch potential, but he’s got the skill set to test Silva.

go ahead and have the fight at MW, if it’s going to happen at all..
i mean, GSP’s a huge WW.. abnormally huge.. he does what ever he wants to with his opponents.. and he would only have MORE power at MW.. it would be a tough one to decide.. but i would pick Spider simply because i’m pretty sure he’s an alien.. or he has magical powers.. one or the other.. either way, if that dude touches you with ONE OF HIS FEET.. your instantly gassed.. or KO’d.. his kicks are GODLY..

I’m a big fan of GSP’s, and I’m having trouble thinking of anyone who’s got a better chance of making silva look human. but let’s be honest here. I’m reading a lot of people deluding themselves. He’s a great fighter, but he’s got a long way to go to reach the level of Silva or fedor. it’ll just take time.and he’s still just human, despite all the deifying done on the blogs. GSP is not a god. He’s not invinceable, or infallible, and you have to take in reality when trying to define his future. He’d likely lose to Silva, but he’s got what i’d see as a 45% chance.

And personally, I’m a lot more interested in seeing a revamped BJ Penn try and get his retribution. I don’t think he could do it, but he’s got a chance.

I can’t wait for the next Silva fight, and the next, etc. But the only fight I can think of that I wanna see badly, is Silva vs Filho. It’d likely never happen, but I’d love to see it, just so all those championing Paulo ‘The Cycle’ Filho as the greatest ever at 185 would see the truth and shut up.

The main reason this fight won’t happen anytime soon is that Dana wouldn’t let one of his current superstars lose their luster. Now that GSP is patched up and on top of the hill again, what sense does it make to send him in to get destroyed by Silva? Then he returns to his own weight class having been whooped but he is still the champ? Makes him look bad. If he managed to beat Silva at a catch weight, then Silva would return to his own weight class as a champion with far less drawing power, since he just got beat by a smaller guy. If GSP can beat Silva at 185, then he’s going to have to get a cape and tights and start fighting crime because he will officially be a super hero.

However, their is somebody at 155 he has to deal with first.

Silva/Okami and Franklin/Hendo, yes. Double yes plus one, even.

Marquardt is taking on Leites at 85 and Cote is already scheduled to fight Almeida at 86. I’d say match the winners of these two up and the winner of that gets the next title shot.

Bisping/Quarry makes sense to me. Have the winner take on the winner of Franklin/Hendo.

Erik W, I said make the fight happen in the 185-205 class because GSP said he dosn’t want to fight at 170-185 because he has many friends in that division and dosn’t wanna be a belt holder there. So if GSP can’t fight him at 185, and 170 is pretty unlikely that only leaves a fight in 185-205.

But fighting in that weight class just sounds silly so maybe that’s why Adam Morgan said that they should “fight at a catch weight”…

ya i think the best idea and the most money would have gsp continue to defend against the contenders in the welterweight division. silva really does have some work to do to clean out his division he has okami at least to deal with. then maybe the boxing match with roy jones jr because that will make heaps of cash. then maybe then do u have silva vs gsp. but i beleive silva would need to fight for the 170 title or gsp would challenge for the 185 because then it really means something to have one of them hold two tittle and also there is a buuilt in rematch. also then you can have a bj penn chalenge and become the undisputerd under 200 pound champion of the world. hey ther has to be a lot of wins from these guys but that would all be really cool
