Further details on Liddell’s injury and UFC 85

April 22, 2008 by Sam Cupitt

UFC.com, the UFC’s official website has posted an article confirming that Chuck Liddell has indeed pulled out of his UFC 85 clash with Rashad Evans due to injury.

According to the article, Liddell tore his hamstring last week in preparation for his bout with the TUF 2 winner(photographic proof of the very nasty looking injury is included).

UFC President, Dana White has been quoted as saying the following about Liddell’s injury, and UFC 85 in general:

“Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell tore his right hamstring during training last week, and being the warrior that he is, he still wanted to fight, which is the reason why everyone in the world loves him,”

“But I wouldn’t let anyone fight with his leg looking that way. Let him heal and come back and fight when he is 100 percent.”

“We’re adding fights to the card and rearranging it so the UK fans won’t have to worry, we’ll still be bringing an amazing card to London and the O2 Arena. The UFC always delivers.”

The article also goes on to state that a full lineup of 13 fights are being planned for the card and a new main event will be announced soon.

I was excited when it was Shogun vs Lidell but when I heard it was Rashad Evans I lost interest anyway.
“The UFC always delivers” except for UFC 83 and what ever UFC it was with Bisping and Evans asthe main event.

Dang. I wonder how long that will take to heal, and how de-conditioned he’ll get. Very little he’ll be able to do for cardio.

If the ufc REALLy wants to draw interest back into this card they’re gonna have to do something special and my call is Silva vs Okami

As it sits, this would be a great card to put on Spike…for free…Dana?

    Or call Fox or ESPN.
