Kimbo Slice: ESPN Magazine cover boy

The only MMA fighter to be featured on the cover of ESPN Magazine is Chuck Liddell… until now. Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson has recently wrapped shooting for the cover of next month’s issue.

Check out tons of Kimbo Slice content on Five Ounces of Pain.

damn, they are marketing the fuck out of this guy. they better be careful, sooner or later he’s going to have to fight a real mixed martial artist and all this hype could evaporate faster than a crowd after carrot top hits the stage.

and i think the likelyhood of him actually stepping to chuck is so miniscule it’s laughable to even say it and even if he did step to chuck on some street fighting shit, he’d probably get knocked out bad.

I think he is slightly embarassed by the whole hype thing. He is not a bad guy I guess but the Kimbo hype thing pisses me off. I confess I will find the fight somewhere and watch it.
P.S. what is with the chest hair?.

I think you can be mad at the promoters for the way they push him, but Kimbo has done nothing to garner anyone’s anger. It’s not his fault that they are pushing him the way they choose. Who are we to say he shouldn’t headline shows? He’s not asking for it, it’s being thrust upon him. He’s just a guy out there trying to make some money…just like the rest of us.

He puts people in the seats. Plain and simple!

And…. I dont think Chuck could beat him even if they were in the same weight class.

yay, more Kimbo, he’s exactly what MMA should be about, hopefully on the cover he’s flashing the 4th Street Brothers gang sign like he does at every event and anytime he is on camera, its great for MMA….

and Spiderman would kick Batman’s ass. Its a pitty, but neither of these fights will ever happen.

You know you’ve made it when you’re being shot by a Hasselblad.

Too bad Kimbo isn’t fighting Bret Rogers.

Kimbo’s an updated version of Mr. T as far as marketing goes. He’s a big guy who looks ferocious. Good visuals. MMA fans can legitimately question his skills because his opponents haven’t been very strong. That just illustrates the difference between marketing and fighting. Dude’s just going with the flow, and he should. The ride might not last too long, so he should enjoy it while it’s happening.

Thompsons gonna come out and take him down. Just like he tried to do to the last guy before he got KTFO. We might get to see what Kimbo does when it hits the canvas. Not that Colossus is a sub specialist or anything.

    @#5 & 7:

    Here, have some knowledge.

First off, Chuck and Kimbo could EASILY be in the same weight class. They are both 6’2″ and Chuck already walks around at nearly the same weight as Kimbo- 230+. Chuck just chooses to cut down to 205. Kimbo cuts no weight to make 240, so if Chuck simply chose not to cut they could easily be in the same weight class, and Chuck would probably have better cardio than he usually does thanks to no weight cut.

Second, come on, Chuck is one of the best strikers in MMA. For some reason all the bandwagoners seemed to jump off after he got KO’ed by Page but Page and Kimbo are not even remotely the same fighter- Page is a strong wrestler who has added a good striking game, Kimbo is a powerful but only decent striker who has not had nearly enough time to develop any sort of clinch or ground game.
Chuck’s best strength is his counter game. Kimbo would try to rush him and get peppered with counters as Chuck backpedalled around, until one of them finally rocked Ferguson, at which point Chuck would finish it with GnP (assuming he wasn’t already out). Kimbo’s skillset just plays perfectly into Chuck’s game.

In fact, Kimbo weighed only 234 when he fought Tank Abbott. That’s pretty much what Chuck walks around at too, they’re basically the same size.
