Report: Aoki not out of DREAM 3…yet

May 1, 2008 by Adam Morgan

Sergio Non, USA Today’s resident MMA blogger, got the scoop on Aoki’s status for the second round of the DREAM lightweight grand prix:

Aoki “wants to go on, but it’s up to the doctors,” said Mike Kogan, head of U.S. promotion for Dream’s owner, Fight Entertainment Group. The examination is scheduled for later on Friday — keep in mind that Japan is a day ahead of North America — so Aoki’s fate could be known several hours from now.

I find it highly doubtful that Aoki will continue, especially seeing as how he stated even before the second JZ fight that he didn’t have much intention on continuing on in the tournament. Stay tuned…

Aoki is top 3 LW for sure, nobody has beaten quality guys like Hansen, JZ. I want to see Aoki with the Dream GP and then fight Gomi in a Dream/WVR unification.

    Aoki or Gomi >>> BJ

I hope Aoki can go on.

He deserves to be able and try to advance again.

I disliked all the back of the head blows he delivered to Bu Kyung Jung in Yarennoka - New Years Eve 2007.

Hopefully his experience w/ JZ’s back of the neck blows will humble him to the effect of that illegal strike and he won’t try to get away with it again. Japanese fighers tend to be givin more leeway in illgal strikes from what I’ve noticed.
