Aoki still in DREAM lightweight grand prix
Posted by Adam MorganThere has been much speculation in regards to whether or not Shinya Aoki will be able to continue in the DREAM lightweight grand prix due to injuries sustained during his two bouts with Gesias Calvancante.
Today, according to Sherdog, DREAM announced that Aoki will continue on in the tournament but that his second round bout against Katsuhiko Nagata will not take place at DREAM 3 with the other lightweight matchups and will instead take place on June 15.
Aoki apologized to his fans and promised to deliver an exciting bout on June 15:
“I’m sorry that I won’t be able to fight on May 11, but I can promise that I will be back with a vengeance June 15,” Aoki said. “I will be 100 percent motivated when I step into the ring and I will make good for cancelling the May fight.”

Can you blame the guy for not fighting again in about 2 weeks?
I can blame DREAM for not putting JZ through after the first round.
Or why did they even make Aoki-JZ a first round match?
Then the ridiculous ruling on the first fight, JZ should have been put through.
Hahahah…JZ nuthuggers still out in force.
Your boy lost to a guy who wears gaudy tights, deal with it!
I glad Aoki can go on.
He deserves to be able and try to advance again.
I disliked all the back of the head blows he delivered to Bu Kyung Jung in Yarennoka - New Years Eve 2007.
Hopefully his experience w/ JZ’s back of the neck blows will humble him to the effect of that illegal strike and he won’t try to get away with it again. Japanese fighers tend to be givin more leeway in illgal strikes from what I’ve noticed.
